2017-18 Sky Bet League 2 – Saturday 27th January Matches Betting Preview

It might be FA Cup fourth round weekend but that does not mean we are without action in Sky Bet League 2. Some of the sides in this division are in cup action but we are still left with eight matches to get stuck into.

The race for promotion, the play-offs and to avoid the drop is getting really tasty now and those in action will be looking to better their positions as we head into the final three months of the campaign.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:

Carlisle United v Forest Green Rovers

Cheltenham Town v Barnet

Chesterfield v Stevenage

Crawley Town v Accrington Stanley

Grimsby Town v Luton Town

Morecambe v Mansfield Town

Port Vale v Colchester United

Swindon Town v Crewe Alexandra

Big Matches

The pick of the matches on Saturday afternoon sees the leaders Luton Town looking to move nine points clear of Notts County at the top of the table. To do that they will need to beat Grimsby Town at Blundell Park. Another side looking to take advantage of Notts County not playing are Accrington Stanley. They can go second if they beat Crawley Town.

Best of the Rest

Were Accrington to slip up then Mansfield could jump a number of sides and move up to third if they can pick up a win at Morecambe. At the other end of the table Barnet, Forest Green and Chesterfield all need points badly. Barnet head to Cheltenham while Forest Green make the trip to Carlisle. Chesterfield host Stevenage.

Betting

I like one in the division on Saturday. We saw for most of last season that the Carlisle fans can make their players edgy when things are not going their way and that might play into the hands of a much improved Forest Green side.

To be fair Forest Green have lost their last four on the road but they have all been by the one goal so they have not been far away. Since then they have significantly added to their squad which should make them stronger for the remainder of the season. Carlisle remain hit and miss at home especially against weaker sides so with the Asian line giving us the draw and the away win at decent odds I’ll go with the vegans here.

Tips

HALF LOSS – Back Forest Green (+0.75AH) to beat Carlisle United for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with Betfred
