The transfer window has passed and now we can begin to get a real feel for what is going to happen in Sky Bet League 2 this season. That can begin on Saturday when despite the international weekend there is another round of matches in the division.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
Cambridge United v Colchester United
Carlisle United v Mansfield Town
Cheltenham Town v Stevenage
Chesterfield v Coventry City
Crawley Town v Yeovil Town
Exeter City v Newport County
Grimsby Town v Crewe Alexandra
Lincoln City v Luton Town

Big Matches
The big match of the day comes from St James’ Park as the top two in the table meet when Exeter host Newport County. Another big one comes from Brunton Park as Carlisle United host Mansfield Town while two of the pre-season favourites for the division do battle at Sincil Bank when Lincoln City welcome Luton Town. At the other end of the table Crawley vs Yeovil feels like a big match.
Best of the Rest
Third placed Stevenage head to a Cheltenham side who haven’t made the greatest start to the season while Crewe in fourth head to Grimsby. Accrington in sixth are also away from home. They face Morecambe while Notts County in seventh make the short trip to Port Vale looking to keep their good run going.
Betting
I like a few bets in this round of matches. Grimsby have started the season slowly. They just can’t seem to keep 11 players on the pitch and they host a Crewe Alexandra side who quietly put a decent little squad together in the close season. They have begun strongly and could go from strength to strength now. They held Mansfield and Newport and have won their last two league matches and look acceptable value for a third straight win here.
Notts County are another side who are going well this season. They slipped up at Coventry on the opening day of the campaign but are unbeaten since and going along nicely. They head to a Port Vale side who I thought would go well this season before it begun but that has not been the case. Their only points so far came at an out of touch Crawley and I’m not sure they will do much better here. The big pitch at Vale Park should help County and I fancy they’ll avoid defeat here and come away with another win.
Three of the four matches Luton have played this season have gone over 2.5 goals and they now head to a Lincoln who took Carlisle to the cleaners last weekend. Luton look poorer defensively this season than they did last season and despite the statistics I can tell you they were poor then. Lincoln don’t look a huge amount better at the back. Both sides have good strike forces and in front of what is expected to be a large crowd over 2.5 goals appeals here.
Forest Green are another side who have played three matches out of four that have gone over 2.5 goals while their opponents on Saturday Wycombe have gone over that total in each of their four games thus far. These two are another pair who can’t really defend but who have goals in them and over 2.5 looks the fairly obvious call here.
