2017-18 Sky Bet League 2 – Tuesday 10th April Matches Betting Preview

The Sky Bet League 2 season continues on Tuesday evening when three matches from the division takes place. We are getting towards the climax of the campaign now and the six sides in action will all be playing their games in hand so the need for a win will be high.

We have a night off from events at the top end of the table with the focus very much on the bottom end and those teams who are chasing a place in the playoffs. Given what is to play for we should still get an entertaining evening.

Morecambe vs Chesterfield

In many ways this could be the biggest match of the evening with Chesterfield in desperate need for a win to come off the bottom of the table and give themselves a realistic chance of escaping the drop. They head to Morecambe who are undefeated in four at home.

I’ve backed Morecambe in a few home matches this season but the problem that I have with backing them now is that they don’t need to win. Chesterfield really do but their form is poor at the minute, that win on TV against Notts County aside, and must win has never meant will win so I’m happy enough to leave this one alone.

Stevenage vs Mansfield Town

The Lamex Stadium will be in use on Tuesday evening when mid-table Stevenage host a Mansfield Town side who seriously need to end a major slump if they are going to revive their hopes of promotion this term.

It was well documented how much investment went into the playing squad for the Stags prior to the season when Steve Evans was the manager but since he left Mansfield have not won. David Flitcroft was a good choice as boss but he hasn’t had the impact he would have liked and I fancy the Nottinghamshire based side are vulnerable in this one.

Stevenage have also had a chance of manager in recent times and they have now won their last two matches which includes a solid win at Newport on Saturday. Stevenage have only lost one of their last six now while Mansfield are without a win in eight and have lost their last four. Only four sides have won at Stevenage this season and current form suggests Mansfield won’t be the fifth. I’ll take Stevenage on the handicaps here.

Swindon Town vs Yeovil Town

There is a bit of a battle of the West at the County Ground when Swindon Town host Yeovil Town in a match the Wiltshire side simply must win if they are going to return to League One at the first opportunity. Yeovil are pottering around in mid-table looking to play the role of spoiler from here on in.

I saw Yeovil with my own eyes on Saturday when they were given the run around by Luton and spent almost an hour of the game with nine men but in truth Luton didn’t really put them to the sword so although they played two men light it was a lot more comfortable than it would have been.

Swindon can’t seem to buy a win at the minute and while I would expect them to win the match they are in no form and Phil Brown isn’t really a manager I like to get behind so I don’t mind sitting this one out either.
