2017-18 Sky Bet League 2 – Tuesday 26th September Matches Betting Preview

We are approaching the end of the first quarter in the Sky Bet League 2 season and we get nearer to that mark on Tuesday night when the 24 sides are back in action in a midweek round of matches.

The table is beginning to take shape now and for those who subscribe to the 10 match before you take notice of it theory they will get their first look at the table at the end of these matches as this is round ten of the campaign.

Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows:

Cambridge United v Forest Green Rovers

Carlisle United v Stevenage

Cheltenham Town v Mansfield Town

Chesterfield v Yeovil Town

Crawley Town v Newport County

Exeter City v Notts County

Grimsby Town v Colchester United

Lincoln City v Barnet

Morecambe v Luton Town

Port Vale v Accrington Stanley

Swindon Town v Coventry City

Wycombe Wanderers v Crewe Alexandra

Big Matches

All eyes will be on St James’ Park on Tuesday night when the top two do battle as Exeter City host Notts County. The Magpies go into the night on top on goal difference so the home side will want to get back to the summit. Luton Town and Accrington Stanley will look to take advantage of that match by closing in on the losers. They go away to Morecambe and Port Vale respectively.

Best of the Rest

Fifth placed Mansfield Town are also on the road. They face lowly Cheltenham Town. Swindon Town battle Coventry City in a battle of two relegated sides. At the other end of the table, Forest Green Rovers, who are bottom of the pile heading into the night, head to Cambridge while Newport go to Crawley looking to continue their good start to the campaign.

Betting

I’m going with three bets on Tuesday night as there are three home sides that I like. Cambridge have won their last two at the ground formerly known as Abbey Stadium and they now welcome an average Forest Green side to town. We saw in the live game on Friday night that Forest Green are limited. Forest Green have taken three beatings on the road followed by a draw against Port Vale but even that isn’t saying a lot. I don’t think Cambridge are all that but back to back home wins over Colchester and Coventry should have them tuned up to win this one.

Crewe got banged 5-0 at home by Carlisle on Saturday and now they head to Wycombe looking to regain their form. They defeat was Alex’s fourth loss in five and in each of the matches they have failed to find the net. They did beat Chesterfield 5-1 in between but that is hardly saying much. Wycombe’s home form doesn’t look great on paper but they were by far the better team for the majority of the match against Luton last time out before suffering late heartache. A good away win at the weekend showed they are over that disappointment and they should have too much for Crewe here.

Finally, Grimsby Town are at home to Colchester and I like them here. Colchester have played four and lost four on the road and only won one of their last five anywhere which was against a Crawley side trying to find their feet. Grimsby have been hit and miss at home but they’ve won their last two at Blundell Park and have won three of their last five. Away defeats at Mansfield and Newport are nothing to condemn them for. I’m happy to be on the Mariners here.
