The first round of the Aegon Championships concludes on Tuesday with 11 matches across the grounds on the second day of the tournament at the Queens Club in London. Among the players on show are Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and Milos Raonic so we should be in for a special day of tennis.
Day 1 Recap
The big names by and large made it through on the opening day of action as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Grigor Dimitrov and Tomas Berdych all won in straight sets but we lost Nick Kyrgios who went lame in the first set and turned it in.
Unfortunately we didn’t get off to a great start betting wise as Kyle Edmund lost a tight match to Denis Sharapolov. Hopefully we can do better on Tuesday.
Centre Court
The 2016 beaten finalist Milos Raonic takes to the court first on Tuesday when he takes on the Australian player making his comeback from injury Thanasi Kokkinakis before arguably the match of the first round as Stan Wawrinka faces the Stuttgart finalist Feliciano Lopez. The all-British clash between Andy Murray and Aljaz Bedene comes third in the schedule before two heavy servers round off the action as Marin Cilic meets John Isner.
Court 1
James Ward is back in the big time in the first match for this court on Tuesday. He takes on Julien Benneteau before a double match takes place. There is an all-French clash between Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Jeremy Chardy after that before the British wildcard Cameron Norrie takes on the former champion Sam Querrey.
Court 5
The other court to have singles matches on it is this one. Steve Johnson meets Stefan Kazlov to open up the day before Viktor Troicki faces Janko Tipsarevic. Nikoloz Basilashvili meets the recent winner in Holland in Gilles Muller in the third match of the day before the action concludes with a clash between next gen star Daniil Medvedev goes up against Nicolas Mahut.

Betting
I’m going with a couple of outsiders on Tuesday. Last year I took on Stan Wawrinka in the first round here against a left-handed Spaniard in the form of Fernando Verdasco and I’m doing it again this year but this time against Feliciano Lopez.
Lopez showed his grass court prowess in Stuttgart last week where he made the final. He is very comfortable on this surface unlike Stan Wawrinka whose movement never truly convinces me on grass. Wawrinka leads their head to head 4-2 but they’ve not played since 2014. Wawrinka is a former semi-finalist here but I fancy he is ripe for a second successive first round exit here.
Daniil Medvedev made it to the quarter final in Holland last week where he lost to Ivo Karlovic but there is no shame in that. He faces Nicolas Mahut who is on a terrible run of form at the minute. He has barely won a match in 2017 and if his serve misfires there isn’t a whole lot else in his game to back him up. I get why Mahut is favourite based on past glories on grass but the form is on the side of the Russian as is my money.
