The second round of the China Championship will be played across two sessions of action on Friday with places in the Last 16 up for grabs for those who remain in the tournament.
We’ve seen some big names exit the competition already but there are still plenty more household names left competing in the event which makes the line up for Friday a pretty decent one especially on the TV tables.
Morning Session
As with Thursday we have Mark Selby and Ronnie O’Sullivan in action on the televised tables on Friday. Both face tricky tests with Selby up against Zhou Yuelong and O’Sullivan facing Dave Gilbert.
The other matches in this session see Martin Gould meeting Mark Joyce, Stephen Maguire playing Yan Bingtao, Anthony Hamilton taking on Shaun Murphy, Barry Hawkins playing Mark Davis, Ali Carter going up against David Grace and Fergal O’Brien facing Kurt Maflin.
Afternoon Session
Once again we have Ding Junhui on the TV table. Ding plays Alan McManus in a repeat of the 2016 World Championship semi-final while the other televised match in this session sees John Higgins up against Tom Ford.
Elsewhere there is a tasty Welsh clash between Ryan Day and Mark Williams while another Welshman, Matthew Stevens, faces Thepchaiya Un-Nooh. Li Hang goes up against another Welsh player in the form of Michael White while Luca Brecel plays Marco Fu. The other two matches see Mike Dunn facing Allan Taylor with Judd Trump playing Graeme Dott.

Betting
There are a couple of bets for me on this third day of action. I like Mark Davis in the first session of the day. Barry Hawkins is yet to really impress me this season and I fancy he could be there for the taking for a Davis who has been scoring well this season and looks to have found something close to his best game. I accept Hawkins is the favourite because he no longer has to play well to win these days but there is no doubt in my mind that Davis is good value at 13/8.
The other bet I like is over 7.5 frames in the match between Ryan Day and Mark Williams. Both men look in excellent form right now and given how well they know each other I fancy this will be one of those matches where one lands a punch and the other answers in kind. I wouldn’t be surprised if this goes all the way but I expect it to be 5-3 either way at the very least.
