2017 European Darts Matchplay – Last 32 Betting Preview

As with all the European Tour events on the PDC circuit the last 32 of the European Darts Matchplay takes place across two sessions of action in Hamburg on Saturday and by the end of the busy day we will know the 16 men set for battle on a chaotic Sunday in the German city.

Afternoon Session

We get underway in the last 32 with Daryl Gurney going up against Jimmy Hendriks before Alan Norris faces Finland World Cup star Marko Kantele. Mervyn King will aim to move towards a clash with Michael van Gerwen in the next round when he faces Richard North and then Michael Smith meets Mike de Decker.

The second half of the afternoon sees the one half of the Spanish duo at last week’s World Cup in Cristo Reyes taking on Nathan Aspinall before another man who was prominent in that event in Kim Huybrechts faces Peter Hudson. Ian White then goes up against Peter Jacques before the afternoon concludes with Joe Cullen meeting Justin Pipe.

Evening Session

The evening begins with a former World Championship semi-final when Simon Whitlock takes on Andy Hamilton before Dave Chisnall and James Wilson do battle in a real juicy looking match up. Mensur Suljovic then plays Dirk van Duijvenbode before defending champion James Wade starts his title defence against Kyle Anderson in another cracking looking match.

Jelle Klaasen faces Stephen Bunting in a battle of former Lakeside champions to begin the second half of the evening before Peter Wright faces Greek World Cup star John Michael. There is an all-Dutch clash to follow that as Benito van de Pas faces Vincent van der Voort before the day is rounded off with Michael van Gerwen meeting John Henderson.

Betting

There is just the one bet that I like on Saturday and we have to wait until the evening for it to arrive but I’m hoping it will be well worth the wait. Jelle Klaasen isn’t long off of having wrist surgery so quite how he will be and what shape his game will be in is open to debate.

That is common knowledge so Stephen Bunting should see this as a chance to make hay while the sun shines so to speak. Bunting has already had a match this weekend which should have settled him down and if Klaasen isn’t anywhere near 100% he will be vulnerable. At the prices I’ll take the chance on The Bullet to come through.
