2017 Gibraltar Darts Trophy – Last 16 Betting Preview

The Gibraltar Darts Trophy concludes on Sunday on what is as ever a busy day on the European Tour. The last 16 of the event is played out in the afternoon before the best of the tournament takes place in the evening session.

You know the drill by now but time restrictions stop us from previewing the latter stages of the tournament but we can cover the last 16. We do still have one outright remaining and hopefully he’ll keep our evening interests alive.

Top Half Matches

The final day begins with a juicy looking match between Peter Wright and Stephen Bunting before Alan Norris takes on a rising star in Darren Johnson. Young guns meet in the third match of the day when Dimitri Van den Bergh takes on Michael Smith before Dave Chisnall does battle with Rob Cross.

Bottom Half Matches

The bottom half resumes with a pair of all-European match ups when Mensur Suljovic faces up with Cristo Reyes and Benito van de Pas meets Magnus Caris. The last two matches look very good as Simon Whitlock and Daryl Gurney round off the afternoon after James Wilson has played Ian White.

Betting

Just one match catches my eye here and it is in the second match of the day where Alan Norris looks like an uneasy favourite to be. The big lad has just struggled a wee bit with his game in recent weeks and looked incredibly relieved to come through a deciding leg against Matt Clark on Saturday but an average under 90 and just 6/22 on the checkouts suggests the confidence isn’t there with Chuck.

Darren Johnson played a really good match to see off Gerwyn Price on Saturday and now he is eyeing up another seeded scalp. Johnson has played two matches this weekend averaging 93 and 95 in the process and that all makes him look a touch overpriced for this match in my eyes especially given the insane number of doubles Norris is missing suddenly.

Tips

WON – Back D.Johnson to beat A.Norris for a 3/10 stake at 2.88 with BetVictor
