2017 International Championship Snooker – Day 4 Betting Preview

Wednesday is last 16 day at the International Championship with the eight matches taking place over the course of two more sessions of action out in the Chinese city of Daqing. We’ve lost some big names to get to this stage but there still looks to be a good cast list on show for Wednesday.

Morning Session

The pick of the matches in the morning session is the one between Shaun Murphy and Ali Carter which could be something of a classic. That is on one of the main tables with John Higgins taking on Mark Joyce on the other one.

On the outside tables two exciting talents will face off when Jack Lisowski goes up against Yan Bingtao while Neil Robertson will be looking to continue his push back into the top 16 when he goes up against Robbie Williams.

Afternoon Session

The two matches on the main tables in this second session of the day should be of the highest quality. Mark Selby looks to continue his title defence when he takes on Mark Williams while two flamboyant players meet when Judd Trump takes on Liang Wenbo in a repeat of the English Open final from last year.

The outside tables may not be of the same overall quality but Mark Allen is playing wonderful snooker. He will take on Martin O’Donnell on one of them while the other match in the session will see Martin Gould meeting Robert Milkins.

Betting

I like three bets over the course of the day here. The first is on Ali Carter to see off Shaun Murphy. To be fair to Murphy I always believe he maintains his concentration better against the better opponents but he’ll have his work cut out to see off Carter who is in excellent form. He has smacked in four tons and a host of other breaks so far this week and that should give him plenty of confidence. Carter leads their head to head and with the form he’s in he’s far too big at 13/10.

In the clash of the exciting youngsters I like Jack Lisowski. Yan Bingtao is a big talent and he is here to stay but Lisowski is in terrific form right now and I think his extra experience may just get him over the line. Lisowski is scoring brilliantly and while Bingtao has seen off a couple of top level opponents he hasn’t really had that burden of expectation on him. With Ding out and with him having put out O’Sullivan all of a sudden people are noticing him. That might work the other way. Lisowski can play with a little more freedom and take this.

The final bet I like is for Mark Williams to see off Mark Selby. Williams often holds his own against Selby and is scoring really well this week. We’ve seen Williams playing well for a while and this Sight Right thing he is trying is really working. You can never truly count Selby off but there is no doubt we are yet to see his best this season. If we don’t see it here then Williams can win this at a big price.
