2017 NatWest T20 Blast – Friday 4th August Matches Betting Preview

There is a full round of fixtures in the NatWest T20 Blast on Friday night as the tournament draws towards the conclusion of the knockout stage. With so many sides in action and both group tables so tight this could be a pivotal night of action.

Although the Test match is going on we still have a TV match which comes from Edgbaston as Birmingham Bears take on Worcestershire in the derby while the other matches will all be covered in the normal places.

North Group

The TV game is a late start as it begins after the Test coverage but the match of the night comes from Derby where the leaders Derbyshire take on Nottinghamshire. Yorkshire are looking to hang on to a top four spot when they head to the Riverside to face Durham while Leicestershire host Lancashire in a must win match for both in the other game.

South Group

It is a big night in this group too. The leaders Glamorgan will look to put their defeat to Gloucestershire behind them when they head to The Oval to take on a Surrey side who will be looking to fight back from a loss to Sussex. The aforementioned Sussex head to Canterbury to take on Kent while Gloucestershire host Somerset in Bristol. The other game in the group sees Hampshire taking on Essex.

Betting

I’m going with three main bets down this card. In the TV match although Worcestershire are a big price it is hard to ignore the run that Birmingham Bears are on at the minute. I do expect plenty of runs in the match though which makes me like over 37.5 boundaries. We saw earlier in the week how Birmingham’s attack can go round the park early on and Worcestershire have leaked runs all season. I expect to see stacks of boundaries here.

Colin de Grandhomme has impressed with the bat in recent times. He has a score of 37 against Northants earlier in the week and 65* against Derbyshire recently so the 11/1 that he top scores for the Bears in this match looks a little high especially with Worcestershire shipping plenty of runs the longer innings have gone on.

Elsewhere it is hard to ignore the price on Glamorgan at Surrey. Surrey’s attack got a brutal going over on Thursday night and those kind of things can leave an after effect. Glamorgan have the batting line up to really get stuck into it too. Glamorgan lost on Thursday night but there is nothing to suggest that they would not have chased the target had the rain not come so there is no need to desert them just yet.

Kent had a good win over Hampshire earlier in the week and they look a decent enough price to back that up against a Sussex side who were playing until 9.30pm on Thursday night and by the time they had got everything sorted it would have been quite late. That isn’t the best preparation for a game like this so Kent, with their exciting batting line up and a bowling attack that is getting better as we go along, can take advantage to win this one.
