2017 NatWest T20 Blast – Wednesday 19th July Matches Betting Preview

There are two more matches in the NatWest T20 Blast on Wednesday with each group having a fixture on what is a light evening of action in the 20 over competition. Moving level with top spot is possible for sides in both groups so we should be in for an interesting evening.

With no international cricket the tournament gets the full focus on the TV with the North Group match being played in front of the cameras. The other one will no doubt be updated throughout the coverage and will have its own updates in the many media outlets. We’ll begin our preview with the TV game.

Worcestershire vs Derbyshire

Winless Worcestershire take on one of the surprise packages in the tournament so far in Derbyshire in a big match in the North Group. If Worcestershire don’t win soon their tournament will be done before it has begun whereas Derbyshire can move level with Northamptonshire at the top if they win.

Worcestershire’s one day season has fallen apart since Tom Kohler-Cadmore left for Yorkshire and now they are going to be without Josh Tongue who is off with England under-19s. Moeen Ali hasn’t been released and it doesn’t sound like Jack Shantry is fully fit either.

Derbyshire have no injury concerns and have loaded their squad with spinners who could be hard to get away. If you are being critical they are a batsman light but the quality of their attack can overcome that. I think Derbyshire are overpriced at odds against and I’m firmly with them in this one.

Ross Whiteley goes up against his former side in this match and I fancy if anyone will score well against them it could be him. Worcestershire look very light in their top six, a case proven by the fact Ben Cox is the only man to go past 40 for them this season. Whiteley has hit 40 and as a big hitter would catch up with any score. He is overpriced at 25/1 and worth a go at the top score.

Surrey vs Essex

The South Group match sees Surrey taking on Essex for the second time this season. Surrey beat Essex on the opening night but have lost their last two matches while Essex have now lost three of their four matches and can ill afford another slip up.

Kevin Pietersen returns to the Surrey fold for this match which should make them much stronger and as a result you would expect them to win but they are pretty short against a dangerous Essex side. That said Essex keep finding ways to lose so I don’t fancy taking them either. I’m happy to sit this one out particularly as a monster storm has passed through the south which might have changed the dynamic of The Oval deck.
