2017 NFL – Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Preview

The final match of week 15 of the NFL season is a huge one for the beaten Super Bowl LI side Atlanta Falcons when they head to their NFC South rivals Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Monday Night Football.

Having seen the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers win this weekend already they know if they want to have a chance of winning the division the Falcons must win this. The Bucs are playing for pride only.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Going into the season the Buccaneers were touted as dark horses for the Super Bowl by a number of judges, myself included, but they have found no consistency in their play and in truth a 4-9 record is hard to argue with even though five of the defeats have been by less than a converted touchdown. They just haven’t held their poise under pressure.

There is no doubt that Tampa Bay have the personnel to have delivered a much stronger campaign than what they have done although defensive injuries are beginning to hamper them while the perceived rift between quarterback and coach is doing them no favours either. They have a chance to show everyone what they have on primetime here however.

Atlanta Falcons

Although this has not been anything like the quality of season that the Atlanta Falcons enjoyed last term they do have their destiny in their own hands still. They head to Florida knowing that if they win their final three matches they will win the NFC South and that is a positive. With two huge games to come they won’t want to slip up at the first hurdle.

Amazingly for the amount of quality they have in their offense the point output of the Atlanta attacking unit has not been as we would expect this season but they have been much stingier on defence where only one side have put on more than 30pts on them. This isn’t the shootout side of last season for sure.

Betting

If this was a normal Sunday match then you would think Atlanta Falcons would probably win with a bit of comfort but we’ve seen all weekend how sides in slumps have raised their game and it may not be a surprise if we see just how talented the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are.

With that in mind I’ll leave the match betting alone and focus on one of the player markets which is the receiving yards for Julio Jones where the line looks very much on the low side at 92.5. Tampa Bay have injuries on defence and Jones has already burned them for 253 yards in the reverse meeting and he went for 111 against them last year. The overs looks an obvious move with Ryan highly likely to seek out his main man in a must-win contest.
