The majority of week 16 matches in the NFL take place on Sunday although with double headers having been played on Saturday with another to come on Christmas Day we are left with just the 12 games to go through on Christmas Eve.
Two of those matches are live for us in the UK and there are plenty of ways to keep up with the rest as the play-off picture continues to take shape heading into the final week of the regular season.
1pm kick offs (6pm UK time)
The live game in this set of matches is a massive game in the NFC South where the New Orleans Saints take on the Atlanta Falcons with more than just rivalry on the line. The winners keep their division and play-off hopes alive. The loser loses control of their destiny.
Elsewhere there is an AFC East battle between the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills with the Patriots looking to remain in control of the number one seed while the Cleveland Browns continue their imperfect season when they head to Chicago to face the Bears. Washington Redskins take on the Denver Broncos while Cincinnati Bengals host the Detroit Lions. The Los Angeles Chargers go to the New York Jets with the Tennessee Titans facing the Los Angeles Rams knowing they must win to keep their AFC South hopes alive. Kansas City Chiefs can go within a win of the AFC West if they beat Miami Dolphins with the Carolina Panthers hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
4pm kick offs (9pm UK time)
There are three matches in this kick off slot with the live game for those of us in the UK being the one between the San Francisco 49ers and the Jacksonville Jaguars where a win for the Jaguars will seal the AFC South title if it hasn’t already been secured by Tennessee losing earlier in the day.
The other two matches sees the Arizona Cardinals hosting the New York Giants in a battle of two of the more disappointing teams of the season while two sides still in the hunt for a wildcard in the NFC meet when the Dallas Cowboys host the Seattle Seahawks with the loser’s season officially ending here.

Betting
I’m going with two bets on Sunday and they both come in the live matches. In the earlier game I think the points line between the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons could be a little on the high side given what is at stake. When these two met earlier in the month Atlanta won 20-17 and the line was massively high that night. The stakes have increased since then. This Atlanta offense isn’t firing as it can while the Saints defence is better than it was. Atlanta aren’t conceding many points either so I’ll go under 53 in this one.
In the later game I like the Jacksonville Jaguars to see off the San Francisco 49ers. There is still a chance of the Jaguars securing a first round bye if they win out and having won their last three matches they head to California in decent form. Credit must go to the 49ers for their revival under Jimmy Garropolo but I think it ends here against this rampant Jacksonville defence and underrated offense.
