2017 Ram Slam T20 Challenge – Knights vs Titans Betting Preview

The second set of matches in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge begin on Wednesday when the Knights play the defending champions Titans in a mouth-watering match up at Kimberley. Both sides won their opening game so we should be getting two confident sides in action here.

These two teams are star studded which means we will see he likes of David Miller, Marchant de Lange, AB de Villiers, Albie Morkel, David Wiese and Quinton de Kock among others in what should be a cracking contest.

Knights

The Knights opened up the tournament last Friday and did so with a fantastic win, one which didn’t always look likely but once they got on top they powered to victory against a decent Warriors outfit. The partnership which won them the match with the bat will get all the headlines but there were some other decent performances for them too.

One concern would be how easily their bowlers went around the park towards the end of their innings but in the main they bowled very strongly especially in the middle overs. They will be under pressure to perform with the ball here but we’ve seen they have it in them. They might have had plenty left in hand with the bat too.

Titans

You look at this Titans unit and it is hard to see a weakness. On paper they look like a seriously good outfit and if they avoid injuries it is going to take some side to stop them defending the title successfully. They look powerful with the bat and they have plenty of options with the ball, very good options at that.

We saw all of that in their rain shortened win in their opening match. They came flying out of the traps with the new ball and while the rain helped them in that Duckworth Lewis Stern always benefits the chasing side, they won with so much in hand you have to think they would have won even had the rain not arrived.

Team News

You wouldn’t think there would be too much that the Knights will be looking to change so we can expect them to be unchanged for this contest barring any late illnesses or injuries.

If the Titans were not already strong enough they are set to welcome Dale Steyn back into their ranks after he has been out for a year with injury.

Betting

As I said above I think it is going to take a really good team or a really special performance to beat the Titans but the Knights have one man in David Miller who is perfectly capable of producing exactly that which is enough to put me off taking the visitors at a skinny price.

The obvious bet is to head to the sixes and that is what I am going to do. The wicket at the Diamond Oval is good for batting and we saw that in the first ODI between South Africa and Bangladesh which saw South Africa chase down 280 with overs to spare and without losing a wicket.

With the amount of clean hitters we have on show here I’m expecting the sixes to really flow in this one. We have Theunis de Bruyn, David Miller, Quinton de Kock, AB de Villiers, Albie Morkel, Ferhaan Behardien and others all capable of hitting a big ball. The sixes line is 13.5 but that doesn’t look nearly high enough to me.
