2017 Shanghai Masters Snooker Qualifying – Day 3 Betting Preview

The final day of the qualifying event for the Shanghai Masters takes place on Friday with the remaining players looking to book their seats on the plane to China for the main competition next month.

We’ve had some big names in action so far this week but the really stellar names come out to play across the two sessions on the green baize on Friday. This is the day we see the likes of Judd Trump, Neil Robertson and Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Morning Session

Judd Trump and Stuart Bingham are the top players on show in this session. Unlike on Sunday when they met each other in the European Masters final they are kept apart here. Trump plays Joe Swail while Bingham goes up against Lukas Kleckers. Elsewhere the two losing semi-finalists from last week are also in action in this session. Cao Yupeng takes on Peter Ebdon while Zhou Yuelong meets Scott Donaldson. Fergal O’Brien faces Duane Jones, Dave Gilbert takes on Alex Borg and Joe Perry goes up against Liam Highfield.

Afternoon Session

Two huge names grace the final session of the week when Neil Robertson and Ronnie O’Sullivan are in action. Robertson meets Chris Totten while O’Sullivan faces Christopher Keogan. Both matches are on the live streaming tables. Anthony McGill is on the outside tables against Lee Walker while Mark Williams will face Niu Zhuang. Mark Davis plays Ross Muir with Alan McManus facing Hammad Miah and Chris Wakelin meeting James Wattana.

Betting

With three winners in four bets including one at a huge price I’m going to take it easy to finish the week off and just try to top up my profits with the one bet which comes in the morning session.

I’ve made a fair bit backing Cao Yupeng in recent times and there is absolutely no need to abandon that strategy just yet. He showed some really good form last week and but for some bad luck in the semi-final he might have given Trump a game in the last four. To get that far was an achievement though and it should have given him plenty of confidence.

Peter Ebdon is still looking up and down at the minute and while he would have the edge on the experience grounds here I’m not sure form, confidence and scoring ability he is ahead. Given how well Cao is playing right now odds against on him looks big especially with his extra motivation to play in a home event.

Tips

WON – Back C.Yupeng to beat P.Ebdon for a 4/10 stake at 2.20 with Ladbrokes
