2017 USPGA Championship Golf – Side Markets Betting Preview

With the USPGA Championship not beginning for a few hours yet there is still time to have a look at the many side markets that have been priced up for the tournament. Given that this is a major we should not be surprised at the number of markets that have been priced up. There is value in a number of them and we’ve picked out the best of it here.

Top New Zealander

This is a two horse race with just Danny Lee and Ryan Fox in the tournament and I’m going to take a chance on the latter who is much the longer off the tee and has been playing pretty well in recent times albeit on the European Tour.

Lee had a couple of weeks where he looked ready to threaten the leaderboards again but he has tailed off again recently and given that the course is likely to be too long for him I think Fox is well worth taking in this match at odds against.

Top Spaniard

Four men from Spain tee it up in this tournament. They are Jon Rahm, Sergio Garcia, Rafa Cabrera Bello and Pablo Larrazabal. The former three all have genuinely live chances in this tournament.

I took Cabrera Bello last week and in truth he barely showed up after a shocker of a first round but he had been in such good form prior to that so I’m prepared to give him another chance here. Garcia hasn’t done much since he won The Masters and I’m not yet convinced Rahm has the temperament for majors so it is the Scottish Open winner for me here.

Top Scandinavian

There are a few more Scandinavians teeing it up this week but there is only one man I want to be on and that is Henrik Stenson. His length should be such a factor against a bunch of shorter hitters or erratic drivers.

The long Quail Hollow track is not going to suit the likes of Thomas Bjorn, Soren Kjeldsen or even Alex Noren so this could be between the former Open champion and Thorbjorn Olesen. In that match up I am with the Swede.
