Day 2 of the Ebor Festival and the big race in the Yorkshire Cup. From a betting perspective, it’s a race to leave alone with Enable trading at around 2/7. There’s your winner but you won’t get rich taking such a price so look elsewhere.
Instead, there are a couple of handicaps to get stuck into, with the first one being the focus of our only bet.

3.00 York
A big field handicap around the turning mile, and it’s race short of pace so ignore those that will sit out the back. The horse that will carry our hopes is Blair House who is lightly raced, will race prominently, has a decent draw and should like the track. He goes on all ground and has already proven that he’s versatile with regards to track. Remember, many milers are better suited to straight track races but not this one.
After a promising 3 year old campaign, he finished an excellent 2nd in the Royal Hunt Cup. Last time out, he failed to progress at Goodwood when favourite but ran ok on genuine soft ground. He goes on most surfaces and still looks to have a big race in him. Cheekpieces replace blinkers and hopefully that should do the trick for a horse coming from top class connections.
I’m playing it a little safe by taking the 6 places at Skybet.
Tips
Back Blair House (e/w) for a 1/10 stake at 15.00 Skybet (⅕ odds 1-6 BOG)
