There is just the one match in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon and while all of the big guns and top dogs in the division have already played on Saturday that does not mean we do not have an important encounter as Cardiff City takes on Burnley.
Cardiff enter the afternoon still looking for their first win of the campaign and are in the relegation zone as a result while Burnley escaped the danger zone when they won last week and will be looking to build on that.
Cardiff City
To be fair to the Premier League new boys it has been a tough start fixture wise for them. They have already faced Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal in their opening six matches and you would never expect them to get a huge amount out of any of those three games. They will be disappointed to have only picked up a couple of draws in the other three however.
Initially scoring goals was a problem for the Bluebirds and in fairness they do look fairly light up top at this level but in more recent times it has been the number of goals they have shipped that is becoming more of an issue, albeit against three of the better attacking sides in the division. They could do with a solid defensive performance here for confidence if nothing else.
Burnley
Much was made of Burnley’s poor start to the season after such a strong campaign last term. Only they will know whether it was down to their Europa League exploits or not but the case for it not being lost a little bit of credence when they thumped Bournemouth last week in their first week without a midweek game for a while.
The Clarets will be hoping to build on that win over the Cherries and look to have a fine chance to pick up their first victory on the road this season. If they are to achieve that then they need to get their defensive solidity back as that has been the background of their success over the last few years and the edge has just come off of them in that regard.
Team News
Cardiff City will be without Aron Gunnarsson once again for this match and he will be joined on the sidelines by Lee Peltier who dislocated a shoulder in the defeat to the champions last week. Sol Bamba could return.
Steven Defour could feature in a Premier League match for the first time since January after he played in the Carabao Cup loss in the week. Ben Gibson and Robbie Brady have been ruled out however.

Betting
When you look at this match on paper I guess the obvious assumption is that it will be tight and low scoring but I’m not convinced you would want to rely on either of these defences to keep a lid on things given the amount they have leaked so far this season.
Both teams will approach this match as one that they feel they can win and that always makes for a more entertaining and open encounter and that is what I am expecting here. It will be competitive too but given the opportunity in front of both of them I think a goal line of just 2 is worth attacking.
