2018-19 Premier League – Huddersfield Town vs Fulham Betting Preview

The latest Premier League weekend concludes with another Monday Night Football which this week focuses on the bottom end of the table. We saw two top sides meet last Monday and it is the turn of the bottom two to collide this time when Huddersfield Town host Fulham.

Huddersfield are the only team left in the Premier League yet to win a match and you feel that has to change here if they are going to give themselves a shot of surviving. Fulham only have one win and would love to double their tally here.

Huddersfield Town

The Terriers have three points from their opening 10 matches but in recent times at least I think they have played a little better than their results have suggested. I think it is exaggerating it to say they have played particularly well but they have been competitive. The time for just being competitive is over though. They have to start winning matches and really need to start here.

Huddersfield can count themselves extremely fortunate that there are some really poor sides in the Premier League this year and as such they are still in touch at the bottom of the table. They don’t need to go too far to see where they are going wrong. Four goals in ten matches is a clear indication of why they are winless so far this term.

Fulham

There were high hopes for Fulham heading into the season. A lot of money was spent on improving them, especially in attacking areas, and to be fair to them they have often looked lively when they go forward but their problem has been at the other end where atrocious doesn’t really begin to do them justice in all honesty.

Things were already bad for them but then they conceded four goals at Cardiff City recently which must have set the alarm bells ringing. If they can shore up their defence they have shown they have goals in them. One positive for them is that they began last season badly in the Championship then found a formula and never looked back. They will hope this match is the start of that this term.

Team News

Huddersfield will be delighted to welcome a quartet of players back for this one. Terence Kongolo, Rajiv van La Parra, Abdelhamid Sabiri and Tommy Smith all return but they will be without Danny Williams once again.

Fulham have midfielder Kevin McDonald back after he served his suspension for his red card at Bournemouth last week in the Carabao Cup loss at Man City in midweek. Joe Bryan is out though so Ryan Sessegnon could be employed at left back.

Betting

I want to bet on Fulham in this match but trusting their defence is not an easy thing to do. It is slightly easier against a pretty ordinary Huddersfield Town side but I can’t believe the Yorkshire outfit will not open up and be expansive in this game because of the need to win it. That concerns me.

It does however make me think that there will be goals in this match. Fulham too should go forward. If they were a side who take a point on the road they can’t here. They know they need to win. Both sides need to so I’m hoping the handbrakes are released and we see an open and flowing game. If we do over 2.25 goals can be covered.
