2018-19 Premier League – Saturday 23rd February Matches Betting Preview

After a high scoring beginning to the Premier League weekend, the latest round of matches continues with just four fixtures on a very quiet Saturday, but one which contains plenty of importance for a number of sides in action.

There will be developments at the bottom of the table once again on Saturday afternoon while Tottenham have the chance to get themselves even further into the title picture when they kick the action off. As ever on a Saturday we have three kick off times.

Early Kick Off

The day begins at Turf Moor where the focus is on the top of the table as Tottenham Hotspur head north to take on Burnley. Spurs go into the contest knowing that they are the only one of the title chasers who are in action on Saturday so a win for them moves them to within two points of leaders Manchester City. Burnley are only three points above the drop but they’ve found their mojo and will be fine. A win here would help them and damage Tottenham’s title hopes.

3pm Matches

There are just the two matches in the usual 3pm slot on Saturday which will give the traditionalists something to complain about. One of them has the makings of being a huge match at the bottom of the table as Newcastle United look to pull further clear of trouble when they host the last placed Huddersfield Town who are dead and buried and playing out time on the season.

The other match comes from the Vitality Stadium where Bournemouth host a Wolves side who will be looking to move back into seventh place and continue their wonderful first season back in the Premier League and build on making it through to the FA Cup quarter final last weekend. Bournemouth aren’t really going anywhere this season.

Late Game

The action finishes at the King Power Stadium where two underachieving sides meet when Leicester City play host to Crystal Palace in a match between two teams who sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table. Neither are going to be relegated though so hopefully they can deliver an entertaining encounter to wrap up the day of top flight football.

Betting

There aren’t many matches on the card on Saturday and there are not many bets for me either. In fact, there is only one that I like the look of and it comes from St James’ Park where I’m priced in on Newcastle United to see off Huddersfield Town at a shade under even money.

Newcastle have won six of their last 16 matches and many of those victories have come in matches between themselves and sides down the bottom. They have beaten Burnley, Huddersfield and Cardiff and I expect them to do the double over Huddersfield. The Terriers just can’t find the back of the net and Newcastle rarely give anything away. The Toon are improving at the other end of the pitch and the crowd will get a lift from Miguel Almiron’s home debut. I expect Rafael Benitez’s men to have too much in a match they know they have to take three points from.
