February begins with seven Premier League matches on Saturday and although we have to wait until later in the weekend for four of the top six to take to the pitch, we are primed for a decent day of action up and down the country.
It wouldn’t be a busy Saturday in the Premier League without three kick off times and that is what we have this weekend. Tottenham and Chelsea hog the spotlight at the top of the table but it is a big night at the bottom of it.
Early Kick Off
We head to Wembley Stadium to get the month underway as Tottenham Hotspur look to close the gap on the two sides in front of them who play later in the weekend. They host a Newcastle United team who will be buoyed not just by their win over the champions in midweek but also by breaking their transfer record to sign Miguel Almiron on deadline day. He could make his debut for the Magpies on a big stage for the Paraguayan.
3pm Matches
The focus is largely at the bottom of the table in the traditional kick off slot as Burnley play host to Southampton in a game which will have large implications at that end of proceedings. Crystal Palace welcome Fulham to Selhurst Park in another game where spots at the bottom could turn around depending on the result.
Elsewhere Brighton look for three points when they welcome Watford to the Amex Stadium while Chelsea will look to bounce back from their thumping by Bournemouth in midweek when they go up against goal shy Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. Everton host Wolves in the other game, in which the winners will finish the weekend in seventh place in the table.
Late Game
After all that is said and done Bournemouth will go in search of a third successive Premier League victory when they make the trip across the Severn Bridge for what might be an emotional affair for Cardiff City with it being the first match since the unfortunate situation with their new signing Emiliano Sala. Cardiff are now four points adrift of safety and could be more than they by kick off so they really need a result in this one.

Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets across Saturday. I’ll begin at Selhurst Park where even with Michy Batshuayi on board Crystal Palace have to be taken on. They have an awful record without Wilfried Zaha and he is missing for this match after his petulant sending off in midweek so I think Fulham can take advantage of that. Fulham have improved throughout January and the late signings they added can make a further difference to them. The Cottagers showed good character to come past Brighton in midweek and against a Palace side who don’t win nearly enough for my liking, especially on their own patch, I think Fulham can avoid defeat at the very least.
In the later match I see no reason why we shouldn’t expect to see goals. Bournemouth matches tend to be full of them and Cardiff City have to push the boat out and make sure they come out with points from their home games. Cardiff are missing Sean Morrison for this one so they might have an attack is the best form of defence policy. Bournemouth should be able to get their counter attacking style working so the styles should combine for a number of goals in this one. Only Fulham have conceded more than Cardiff this season and only three teams have shipped more than Bournemouth. Goals should come naturally here.
