The final match of what has been a big weekend in the Premier League sees the leaders Liverpool in action, when they head to the capital to face West Ham United at the London Stadium, in a high profile Monday Night Football.
West Ham United will be out to show more than they did when these two met in the opening weekend of the campaign, when Liverpool won 4-0, while the Reds will be looking to return to their position of five points clear at the summit.
West Ham United
The Hammers have had a bad week. It begun when they lost to AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup and then continued with another defeat, this time to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League. They need to perform much better in this outing than they did in those just to be competitive in this match. The positive for them is that they have nothing at all to lose and can have a real good go here.
West Ham have the offensive personnel to trouble anyone in the league, although to be fair to them they are dealing with a lot of injuries right now. Where they can be found out, especially against the better sides in the competition, is defensively, where they can often be exposed in wider areas. They are also susceptible to pace as well which might not be good here.
Liverpool
There is no doubt that Liverpool have been the team of the season so far in the Premier League, but they looked sloppy against Leicester City in midweek, and will be out to show that their poor performance was just a bad day at the office, rather than the beginning of a rot setting in. In their position, each match will all be about winning but with City looking back to near their better form, a strong showing would do Liverpool no harm.
One area of concern for Liverpool on Wednesday evening came in the form of their defence. They were very ordinary in that part of the pitch with Leicester pressing them high and putting them under pressure. It will be interesting to see if they are any more convincing over the course of this match. If they are then you would think they would have more than enough at the other end to get the job done.
Team News
West Ham United hope to have Aaron Cresswell, Marko Arnautovic and Lukasz Fabianski available. The left-back picked up an injury in training while the latter pair suffered knocks in the defeat to Wolves. A whole host of long-term absentees remain unavailable including Manuel Lanzini, Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez.
Liverpool remain without a recognised established choice at right-back but James Milner returns from suspension for this contest and is likely to fill that void. Joe Gomez remains on the sidelines however.

Betting
Originally I was looking to back Liverpool on the handicap but that has gone a little further than I would want given that they are away from home. Interestingly though, they have found the net four times in each of their last four meetings with West Ham United and so with that in mind the better bet could be over 3 goals.
Recent history suggests Liverpool could cover this line on their own but they have started leaking goals in their last few matches. Leicester found the net against them on Wednesday and prior to that Crystal Palace put three past them. That could mean West Ham are no forlorn hope in the goal department, especially with Felipe Anderson up against a makeshift right-back. I’ll take over 3 here.
