A busy week in Sky Bet League One comes to a close on Saturday afternoon when the 24 teams are all in action for the third time in the space of eight days. The table is beginning to take shape now but a win can still be very significant for whoever can get it.
This is the fifth match in 15 days for each side in the division so the squads are going to be tested to the full throughout the league which could make for some surprising results. You would think the bigger sides will have an advantage here.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
AFC Wimbledon v Sunderland
Blackpool v Accrington Stanley
Bradford City v Wycombe Wanderers
Bristol Rovers v Southend United
Charlton Athletic v Fleetwood Town
Doncaster Rovers v Portsmouth
Gillingham v Coventry City
Luton Town v Shrewsbury Town
Oxford United v Burton Albion
Plymouth Argyle v Peterborough United
Rochdale v Walsall
Scunthorpe United v Barnsley
Big Matches
The league leaders Peterborough United make the long journey to Home Park to take on Plymouth Argyle on Saturday while second placed Portsmouth are also on the road when they head to Doncaster Rovers. Barnsley in third head to Glanford Park where Scunthorpe will begin life without Nick Daws against them. Sunderland head to London to take on AFC Wimbledon.
Best of the Rest
Fleetwood Town had a wonderful win in midweek and they head to Charlton Athletic looking to back that up on Saturday. At the other end of the table bottom placed Oxford United host Burton Albion while Wycombe will look for their first win of the season when they travel to Bradford. The other winless side, Shrewsbury Town, make the trip to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton who are looking for successive wins.

Betting
I’m going with three bets in the division on Saturday. Sunderland might have played on Wednesday but they have a big enough squad to cope with the demands of two games in three days and I expect them to beat AFC Wimbledon. I thought heading into the season that Sunderland would be the best side in it and I’ve seen nothing to suggest that won’t be the case come the end of it. AFC Wimbledon started well with a win but they’ve not won since and it might be that by getting Fleetwood in Joey Barton’s first game in charge that they got them at the right time. I’m very surprised we can get draw cover here. I don’t think we’ll need it but it is always nice to have. Either way I’m on Sunderland.
Coventry suffered a double blow in midweek when they lost at Blackpool and perhaps worse still lose Maxime Biamou for the best part of the rest of the season with an ACL injury. They now head to Gillingham who will be smarting from their loss to Sunderland on Wednesday night but there is no shame in losing to them. The Gills have a form striker in Tom Eaves and he could well be the difference here. I fancied Coventry might struggle a little without Marc McNulty and with only one win, against a struggling Plymouth side, they’ve not started well. Gillingham have. That Sunderland loss can be excused. I’m on the home side here.
Another home side I like the look of is Luton. Shrewsbury are yet to win a match this season and they have only scored one goal as well so the struggles I think many expected them to endure have duly arrived. Luton had to wait until game four for their first win but they have played three of the top four to open up their campaign so their record is heavily skewed against them. They got their season up and running on Tuesday night and can keep it going on Saturday.
