The final action in the Sky Bet League 1 regular season takes place on Saturday evening and although we know the two sides who will be promoted from the division now, there is still so much to be decided on what should be a wonderful day of action.
We have the champions to be crowned while the identity of the last team in the play-offs is to be confirmed too and then there is the bunfight to avoid the drop to be played out as well. We are guaranteed tons of drama for sure.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (All games kick off at 17.30 BST)
Blackpool v Gillingham
Bradford City v AFC Wimbledon
Bristol Rovers v Barnsley
Charlton Athletic v Rochdale
Doncaster Rovers v Coventry City
Luton Town v Oxford United
Peterborough United v Burton Albion
Plymouth Argyle v Scunthorpe United
Portsmouth v Accrington Stanley
Shrewsbury Town v Walsall
Southend United v Sunderland
Wycombe Wanderers v Fleetwood Town
Big Matches
Who will be champions of League 1? It will be either Luton Town or Barnsley, that much we know for certain. Luton have their fate in their own hands. If they beat Oxford United at Kenilworth Road they will leave the division as the winners of it. If they slip up then Barnsley will take the crown if they better the Hatters’ result in their match at Bristol Rovers. It is one of two for the final play-off spot too with Doncaster Rovers knowing they will claim it if they beat Coventry City at the Keepmoat Stadium. Failure to do so opens the door for Peterborough United in their match against Burton Albion.
Best of the Rest
The relegation battle at the other end of the table will take some sorting out but one thing we do know is whoever loses the match between Plymouth Argyle and Scunthorpe United will be playing League 2 football next season. To give themselves any chance of staying up Southend United must avoid defeat when they host Sunderland while Walsall simply have to beat Shrewsbury Town if they are to remain in the division. AFC Wimbledon need to avoid defeat at already relegated Bradford City to guarantee remaining in the division.

Betting
I’ll keep it relatively simple on this final day and go with just the one bet. I would have liked to take a couple more but we are in that situation where teams who need to win are cramped in price but many of those sides face opponents I think they will beat. Therefore my only bet comes in the form of Plymouth Argyle.
I have no idea why it took them so long to dispense of the services of Derek Adams but finally they have. Things sounded like they were getting toxic when I went to Home Park in March and they have barely won a match since then. They have got rid of him though and I think they will get the benefit here. Plymouth certainly aren’t facing relegation because their squad isn’t good enough. They should be comfortably in mid table and can see off a Scunthorpe United side who are from a run in January have been poor all season. Home Park is a tough place to go and a packed crowd will be roaring their team on here. The likes of Freddie Ladapo, Graham Carey and Ruben Lameiras can guide Argyle to safety with a win here.
