2018-19 UEFA Nations League – Thursday 15th November Matches Betting Preview

The penultimate round of regular season matches in the UEFA Nations League begins on Thursday and with promotion and relegation beginning to arrive in the spotlight we are in for another exciting and competitive evening in the competition.

A number of nations have plenty to play for over the course of the evening which is exactly what this tournament was devised for and it will be interesting to see who can handle the pressure on a big night of action.

Group A

There are two matches in Group A on Thursday evening where Belgium can all but secure a spot in the semi-finals when they play host to Iceland. Spain can also make it through to the last four on Thursday. They will progress to the latter stages of the tournament if they beat Croatia who will face relegation if they lose.

Group B

Austria will hope to keep their promotion chances alive when they host B3 leaders Bosnia-Herzegovina in the only Group B match on Thursday. Bosnia-Herzegovina only need a point to secure promotion and if Austria avoid defeat then Northern Ireland will be relegated so they will be cheering for a Bosnia victory.

Group C

The action in Group C comes from C2 where Finland will be looking to secure their promotion when they travel to Greece. Greece have to win to stay alive and they know Finland will top the group and enhance their Euro2020 qualifying hopes if they avoid defeat. The other match sees Hungary taking on Estonia with the visitors to be relegated if they lose that match.

Group D

It is all about D2 as far as Group D is concerned on Thursday evening and the top two in the group clash there too. Luxembourg host Belarus knowing if they win the match they will move up to Group C while even a draw keeps their destiny in their own hands. Belarus have to win to take control of the section. San Marino host Moldova in the other match in the group. D1 is also in action on Thursday where Kazakhstan take on Latvia while group winners Georgia head to Andorra looking to maintain their 100% record.

Betting

I think this is a great card to get stuck into and I’m going to do so accordingly. In Group A I think we are going to see some goals in the match between Belgium and Iceland. Iceland have to beat Belgium else they are relegated so they are going to have to come out to play and that is exactly the position Belgium love to be in. They will be able to pick Iceland off at will and with the quality in their attack I expect them to do just that. Iceland are usually good for a goal though so the over 3.25 line should land nicely here.

Croatia haven’t looked up to much in this tournament so far and I’m not convinced we are going to see them look any better on Thursday night. Spain lost to England last time out but to be fair England counter attacked amazingly well. I’m not sure Croatia have the pace to do that. Spain have already thrashed Croatia 6-0 in this group but it isn’t like Croatia can sit back and defend because they need to win to give themselves a realistic chance of staying in Group A. That should play into Spain’s hands so I’m on them here.

Moving down to Group D and I think Luxembourg are a good bet with the quarter ball start against Belarus. I’ve mentioned in previous weeks of this competition how Luxembourg are an improving nation and they should have got something in Belarus. Luxembourg get promoted with a win and keep their destiny in their own hands if they avoid defeat. I fancy they can get at least a draw here and potentially even the win.

Georgia have already won their group but they looked head and shoulders the best team in Group D before a ball was kicked in this competition and that is how it has played out. I expect them to confirm their dominance when they head to Andorra on Thursday evening. Andorra have lost their last two matches and are clearly nothing special so I’m surprised Georgia are only giving up 1.25 goals. A one goal win wouldn’t be ideal but the strong likelihood of a win by two or more makes that handicap appeal.
