The fourth day of the China Open sees the last 16 of the tournament being played out in Beijing on Thursday. The money is starting to increase dramatically and those who are chasing an automatic seeding in the World Championship are seeing their dream get ever closer.
Despite the long format of this tournament we keep losing big names with John Higgins the latest to fall by the wayside which is beginning to open the draw up for those few stars who remain in contention.
Morning Session
We are down to four matches per session on Thursday with two of them on the main tables and two on the outside ones. The main tables will see the world champion Mark Selby taking on the Chinese youngster Lu Haotian and another former world champion Neil Robertson meeting Chinese youth in the form of Zhou Yuelong. The other two matches have Jack Lisowski taking on Gary Wilson and the Chinese wildcard Luo Honghao meeting Tom Ford.
Afternoon Session
The TV tables will be graced by two legends of the game in Ding Junhui and Mark Williams in the afternoon session and both face very tough tests. Ding will go up against Kyren Wilson while Williams will face Mark Allen who needs one more win to guarantee a seeding in the World Championship. On the outside tables Barry Hawkins meets Cao Yupeng while two former world champions do battle when Stuart Bingham takes on Graeme Dott.

Betting
I like two bets over the course of the day with the opening one coming in the morning session when Luo Honghao takes on Tom Ford. Honghao has the profile of a Chinese wildcard who is ready to progress deeper in this tournament. He has banged in a number of tons in his three wins thus far and now faces a Ford who was better on Wednesday but still didn’t completely convince me in beating Elliot Slessor. Honghao has taken care of Anthony McGill already this week and 11/5 is slightly overpriced for him.
In the big match of the day I think we are going to see one of those close tussles. Neither Mark Williams nor Mark Allen look in the mood to give anyone so much as an inch so I’m expecting this match to go a long way in terms of frames. Williams looks in great form at the minute but there is something about China that agrees with Allen so over 9.5 frames looks the bet in this one.
Tips
Back L.Honghao to beat T.Ford for a 3/10 stake at 3.20 with Bet365
WON – Back M.Williams vs M.Allen – Over 9.5 frames for a 4/10 stake at 2.10 with William Hill
