The quarter finals of the Players Championship continue on Thursday. We are now down to the one table format inside Venue Cymru in Llandudno which gives the tournament an extra feel profile wise and usually that brings out the best snooker from the competitors.
That was certainly the case on Wednesday evening when Ronnie O’Sullivan made three centuries in beating Ding Junhui to become the first semi-finalist of the week. Neil Robertson, Judd Trump and the two Welsh players Mark Williams and Ryan Day will be looking to join him on Thursday.

Afternoon Session
Neil Robertson vs Judd Trump
We are in for a treat in the afternoon session on Thursday when Neil Robertson takes on Judd Trump for the right to face Ronnie O’Sullivan in the semi-final on Friday evening and this should be a cracking match.
Both men looked in good touch in the first round and interestingly both need a big run here after indifferent seasons where they have struggled for form and a bit of confidence. That said I don’t expect much to be given away in this one I have to say.
I’m expecting a high quality match here and one which is full of high breaks. I was at a match between these two in The Masters in 2016 where they made six centuries in 11 frames between them. I don’t expect that many here but it shows their styles combine nicely and given how heavily they score I’m expecting more than 1.5 centuries in this one. Both men covered this line on their own in the first round and they can cover it together here.

Evening Session
Ryan Day vs Mark Williams
The eyes of Wales will be on the evening match when the two local lads collide as Ryan Day looks to continue his fine recent form when he takes on Mark Williams who is in fantastic form himself. The winner goes through to the semi-final on Saturday evening.
Both these men go into this encounter with their confidence high and they showed that they are playing well in the first round. Day powered past Mark Selby in solid style while Williams saw off the significant challenge of Yan Bingtao so they have set up this battle between the two quite nicely.
Given how well the pair are playing coming into the match I think we are in for a nip and tuck, see-saw type of match here and one which will have plenty of legs. Day won their last meeting 6-5 in the UK Championship earlier in the season. I fancy this will be just as close so over 9.5 frames is the play.
Tips
Back N.Robertson vs J.Trump – Over 1.5 centuries for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with Bet365
Back R.Day vs M.Williams – Over 9.5 frames for a 4/10 stake at 2.20 with William Hill
