There is a full round of matches in the Royal London One Day Cup on Friday as the group stages heads towards the halfway stage. Things are beginning to get a little serious in the tournament now especially for those at the wrong end of the table.
Unfortunately with the Test match going on there will be no TV coverage of any of these eight matches but we will have all the various methods that the counties use to promote their action to keep us up to date.
North Group
The only side in the North Group with a 100% record so far hope to keep that intact when Worcestershire head up to Gosforth to take on a Durham side who are yet to win in the event. There is a big match at Headingley as Nottinghamshire head there to play Yorkshire while Lancashire host Warwickshire in another appealing match at Blackpool. The other match sees Derbyshire playing host to Leicestershire at Derby.
South Group
Hampshire have three wins from three in the tournament so far and they will be out for a fourth win when they head to Bristol to have on a Gloucestershire side who will be wanting to bounce back from their defeat at The Oval. Somerset sit in second place and they head to Chelmsford to play Essex while Sussex host Middlesex at Hove. The other match sees Kent and Glamorgan looking to get off the mark for the competition when they meet at Canterbury.

Betting
I’m going with two match bets over the course of the day and I’ll have a dabble at a top batsman in one of the matches too as I’m convinced he will top score soon. The match bets both come in the South Group.
Kent have begun the tournament poorly with two defeats from two matches and in truth they haven’t really got close in either of their defeats. Glamorgan have lost their first three matches but they were competitive against Middlesex and probably should have won but a bit of inexperience cost them. Even so if they continue to perform like that I don’t think it will be long before they win a match. While it isn’t ideal that both Michael Hogan and Marchant de Lange are out I will chance Glamorgan at odds against with Kent’s batting line up looking to rely a lot on their top three and their bowling is clearly missing something. Glamorgan for me.
I’ll also take Sussex who are probably still wondering how they are not three from three rather than two from three. They know they should have beaten Hampshire but the good thing from their point of view was that they bounced back to thump Somerset on Wednesday. Middlesex could easily, and should have two defeats from their three matches. As it is they stole a win on Wednesday to give them a second win but I think they’ll have to up their game here. I like Sussex’s quality with the new ball and with their light looking batting line up showing no signs of being short of runs they will do me here.
Earlier in the tournament I took Stuart Poynter to be the top Durham batsman against Yorkshire and he should have delivered the goods. I’m going to chance him again against a Worcestershire side who got clattered to all parts at the death against Yorkshire on Wednesday and if they are as leaky at the back end of their innings here then Poynter could well be the man to capitalise. This Durham unit aren’t batting great so 12/1 on the Ireland keeper is enough to lure me back in again.
