There is one match from the Royal London One Day Cup on Tuesday which just like on Monday comes from the South Group as Somerset take on Sussex in an important match for both down in Taunton.
Both teams have made encouraging starts to their campaigns with Somerset having picked up two powerful wins and Sussex a win and a defeat which they will probably still be wondering how they didn’t come out on top in. Unfortunately this one is not on TV but Somerset are a county who provide a good quality live streaming service so we can keep up with events.
Somerset
It has been a really positive start to the season for Somerset in all formats not just this one. That will come as a surprise to many because they were forced to offload a number of players at the end of last season to tighten the purse strings but the young players they have invested in have come up trumps so far.
Just as importantly though their experienced players have led by example and with England leaving the majority of their squad alone they can build some continuity in this competition. They have twice batted well in the tournament and while their bowling got some tap at the weekend, in the Championship at least, it has been pretty solid.
Sussex
It has been a respectable start to the campaign in all competitions for Sussex. They have begun the Championship well and should really have a couple of wins in this tournament too and when you consider that they have been without arguably their two best bowlers you have to give them credit for their return thus far.
It will be interesting to see how Sussex react to their defeat to Hampshire on Saturday. They will know they had that match won but the way they were taken apart at the death has to be a concern, especially when you think they are competing on a small ground here. There is a slight concern at a lack of runs throughout their order too.
Team News
Somerset have recalled Matt Renshaw for this match although whether he gets into a team who have just made 370 remains to be seen. The Cidermen will definitely be without Dom Bess who is with England and Jack Leach who is injured.
Sussex continue to be without Chris Jordan and Jofra Archer who are both away at the IPL still. Stiaan van Zyl remains on the sidelines with a knee injury so he is not involved in the squad either.

Betting
I like Somerset here. In truth I don’t think there is a huge amount of difference between the two when everyone is fit but Somerset are just that little bit better and bat that little bit deeper but the difference could be that Sussex are missing a couple of big bowlers whereas the Somerset attack are missing two spinners but it is open to debate whether either would have played anyway.
Somerset have won their two matches very convincingly so far while Sussex are coming off the back of a loss in their last match so with that in mind I’ll go with the home side to continue their excellent start to the campaign by winning this one.
