Durham vs Nottinghamshire

The TV cameras and their pod make their way to Chester-le-Street on Saturday afternoon for the clash between the surprise packages in the North Group, Durham Jets, and the defending champions Nottinghamshire Outlaws.

These two have already met at Trent Bridge this season and Durham came out victorious. That was one of four wins they have picked up with the only side who have beaten them in this campaign being Yorkshire. Nottinghamshire picked up their fourth win of the competition on Friday night but I wonder if they caught Lancashire at the right time. Even if they didn’t and it was a win on merit I repeatedly say how hard it is to back up the night before especially when the following match is an afternoon game. If you think Nottinghamshire’s players won’t have finished their post-match stuff much before 11pm and then they’ve got the lengthy trip to Durham to start 15hrs later. It is tough. Durham are playing good cricket in this competition and with Ben Stokes available there is no doubt in my mind the value lies in the home side.

Value also sits with the Nottinghamshire captain Dan Christian in their top batsman market. He has been in fantastic form this season and is actually Nottinghamshire’s leading run scorer so far and the third highest scorer in the tournament. Those runs include a 32 against Durham and if he can get in and get going straight away there is no reason why he can’t land top batsman honours at 13/2.

Derbyshire vs Yorkshire

The other match of the day comes from Chesterfield where a sold out crowd will be watching Derbyshire and Yorkshire looking to back up wins on Friday evening with another on Saturday.

Yorkshire look a good side to me at the minute and I think they will win this but against Derbyshire’s strong pace attack on a club ground you never truly know how things are going to go. Sadly there is a little too much rain around for my liking which nullifies a side market attack and Yorkshire are a bit too short for me so I’ll sit this second game of the day out.
