2019-20 Premier League – Norwich City vs Leicester City Tips and Betting Preview

We have a Friday Night Football to kick off another weekend in the Premier League, and it is a huge match for the home side Norwich City, as they entertain Leicester City in a clash the Canaries really have to win.

Norwich are seven points adrift of safety and they only have 10 matches left after this one, so their need for points is high. Leicester still need a few wins to confirm a spot in the top four and Champions League football next term.

Norwich City

Although they are bottom of the table with just four wins from 27 outings, the play of Norwich City has represented more than they have acquired so they will be eager to pick up three points here. It wouldn’t ease the pressure on them should they get them but it would certainly give them some belief that there is a route out of the trouble they have got them in. They should be confident that only Liverpool have beaten them in their last four at Carrow Road.

Norwich are going to need their attack to fire if they are going to give themselves any chance of staying up. They don’t have a problem creating opportunities but they need to start converting them very soon. Considering they are bottom and have leaked goals all season, they have only shipped six in their last five so if their attack can rediscover its mojo there is no reason why they can’t pick up some wins soon.

Leicester City

Leicester have been one of the teams of the season but they won’t need me to tell them that they have just come off the top of their form in recent times and they will see this as a chance to get back on track. They head to Carrow Road with just one win in their last six and while the latest of those were to Manchester City which they can be forgiven for not winning, there have been some very indifferent results in that run.

Only the top two have been better on their travels this season than Leicester City so that will be some comfort to them as they make their way to East Anglia. One concern would be if you take away their nine goals at Southampton, they have only scored 19 goals in 12 away games this term, which for a side who have the attacking talent they have is a questionable return I would suggest. They will feel they can build on that here.

Team News

Norwich have been hit with the news that defender Christophe Zimmerman will miss this game through injury. They will also be without winger Onel Hernandez after he has had a knee operation. Sam Byram remains out too.

Leicester could have Wilfried Ndidi back although they might prefer to save him for the FA Cup tie next week. That is because they have Hamza Chowdhury back from suspension. Kelechi Iheanacho is expected to be available.

Betting

I have to say the current form of Leicester City is a worry to me. It coincides with a dry spell for Jamie Vardy which is less than ideal to say the least and given where Norwich City are in the league, there could be more pressure on the visitors than they might like given the form they are in. Although technically they are not safe in the Champions League positions they have enough of a gap that this isn’t must win for them by any means.

That is the position Norwich are in though. They are a better side than their record suggests and we know they will take the game to Leicester here. If they can get in front it would give them something to hold on to and then they can either employ the counter attack or their possession game can come to the fore. It should be a belting atmosphere inside Carrow Road which will help the home team and I think they can avoid defeat here at the very least. On a +0.75 Asian line you would have three wins and only a half loss in the last four games here. Norwich have beaten Man City on this ground and held Spurs and Arsenal. That line will do me.
