The Premier League comes back from the international break on Saturday with eight matches as we continue what is fast becoming a really interesting season outside of the big two, at both ends of the table.
You usually find the match day after international breaks contain some shock results so it will be interesting to see what Saturday throws up. As ever there are three kick off times for the action to take place over.
Early Kick Off
The action gets underway at Goodison Park where there is all sorts of pressure on the home boss Marco Silva whose Everton side begin the day in the bottom three. They play host to a West Ham United side who were going along nicely but then opened up a few doubts over their credentials last time out when they were beaten by Crystal Palace heading into the international break so both sides will want to win here.
3pm Matches
There are six matches in the usual TV slot on Saturday afternoon, with one of them coming from Villa Park where two sides who are expected to be fighting relegation this season meet as Aston Villa take on Brighton and Hove Albion. Another side likely to be fighting the drop for most of the campaign are Norwich City and they made the trip to Bournemouth on Saturday. The other team widely regarded as being relegation contenders this season are Newcastle United and they head to the capital to take on Chelsea.
There is an interesting match at the King Power Stadium where Leicester City host a Burnley side who are much improved on last term and who will fancy their chances of doing some damage there. Tottenham look to bounce back from their disastrous week prior to the international break when they host Watford and the other match sees Wolverhampton Wanderers taking on Southampton at Molineux.
Late Game
All eyes will be on Manchester City in the evening kick off to see if they can temporarily close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table when they go up against a Crystal Palace outfit who are riding high at the minute, at what is sure to be a noisy Selhurst Park. City really can’t afford to lose this match but Palace are no respecter of reputation so this one has plenty of intrigue about it heading into it.
Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of Saturday afternoon. The first one comes from the Vitality Stadium where I am expecting Bournemouth to have too much for an injury ravaged Norwich City, but I do think Norwich have a goal in them so I’m going to bump up the price on the Cherries by backing Bournemouth to win and both teams to score. Bournemouth are in good nick at the minute despite their loss to Arsenal before the international break but they haven’t kept a clean sheet this season. I expect Eddie Howe’s men to have too much here but in Teemu Pukki and a couple of others Norwich have a goal in them.
The other bet I like is for Wolverhampton Wanderers to see off Southampton at Molineux. Last season Wolves struggled against the lesser sides in the division but they dispatched Watford without much fuss and should be brimming with confidence after going to the Etihad Stadium and winning last time out. Southampton look a bit of a mess defensively at the minute and have issues between the sticks to contend with as well. That is a problem because you don’t tend to get much change out of this Wolves defence so I’m happy to be on the home side to win here.
Tips
Back Bournemouth to win and both teams to score for a 3/10 stake at 2.75 with Betway
