The Premier League weekend continues with a couple of matches on Sunday afternoon as two sides who could be fighting to stay up meet in one game while two teams harbouring hopes of big finishes collide in the second one.
We’ve already seen some brilliant action this weekend and given the competitive look about the two games on Sunday we should be in for even more, as the second round of fixtures in the competition heads towards a conclusion.
Sheffield United vs Crystal Palace (14.00)
The first match of the two on the day sees the promoted side Sheffield United playing at home in the Premier League for the first time in many years, when they entertain a side who could well be battling hard to stay up themselves come the end of the season in Crystal Palace.
Sheffield United are a resilient outfit rather than being anything standout special but they can be hard to beat while very few had a better away record in the league than Crystal Palace last term. That might suggest that both teams will be in their comfort zone here which brings the draw massively into play. That’s my idea of the result but I’ve still not seen enough of either of these sides to justify a bet on it.
Chelsea vs Leicester City (16.30)
The second match of the afternoon looks a much more appealing contest as two sides who offer up plenty of talent and attacking philosophies meet at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea entertain Leicester City.
Both sides had disappointing outings last week, failing to score in poor results so both of them will be hoping that they get their campaigns up and running here. Chelsea offered up a much better account of themselves in the UEFA Super Cup in midweek but the travel and length of that match could have an effect here. Leicester came up against a dogged and determined Wolves side who had plenty of competitive miles in their legs in their opening game and so you’d expect a natural improvement from the Foxes here.
Chelsea look a little vulnerable to me here. They are clearly a work in progress at the present time whereas Leicester did a lot of business early in the window and look a more settled side. If everything was even here I wouldn’t put Leicester without a chance so given that they have one or two things in their favour I think we have to be with them, especially with a large looking handicap.
