The Premier League weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon as three more matches take place on what is going to be a sizzling day in terms of temperatures and hopefully that will make its way onto the football pitch too.
We have two sides who are expected to challenge for the title on show on Sunday afternoon as well as a couple of top half hopefuls. Two of the three matches are live on the TV in the UK so there is a reason to stay out of the sun and put the feet up.
Bournemouth vs Man City (14.00)
The afternoon begins with the champions Manchester City in action when they take the long trip to the coast to face an AFC Bournemouth side who have begun their campaign nicely, but who face their toughest test here.
Bournemouth have a horrible record against the top sides in this division since they were promoted to it so you’ve got to think City will win the game, especially having had the gauntlet laid down to them by Liverpool on Saturday. How many they will win by could be up to them though. On a hot day they might choose to conserve energy but at the same time if Bournemouth wilt in the heat the champions could run riot. I’ll put my feet up and watch which one it is.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United (16.30)
The second half of the televised double header comes from the New White Hart Lane as Tottenham Hotspur will look to build on their fine, if fortunate, draw with Manchester City last weekend when they host a Newcastle United side who already look in all sorts of trouble.
There is always the fear of the comedown after a high performance but I think Spurs will have to fall someway not to win this match and so in terms of a betting potential it is all about how they win it for me. I fear for Newcastle this season and wonder where their goals are going to come from. They could only find the net with a consolation at Norwich who look wide open at the back. Tottenham are less likely to be as open so the odds against on Spurs to win to nil appeals to me.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Burnley (16.30)
The one match away from the TV cameras comes from Molineux as Wolves look to continue their solid start to the season when they host a Burnley side who were going through what their opponents are now this time last term.
It isn’t easy to bet on Wolves games at the minute as we don’t know quite what their Europa League exploits will take out of them. What we do know is that Burnley have started the season with a solid win over Southampton and were arguably a real match for Arsenal last weekend. Therefore, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Burnley take a result of some kind here but I’m happy to sit this one out given the guesswork involved with Wolves.
