The Premier League continues with another midweek round of action and that begins on Tuesday evening with three matches are played, all of which have importance in the race for the Champions League and that battle to avoid the drop.
As all the games are for the remainder of the season, all three matches are live on TV for us to enjoy in the UK so there are no issues with keeping up with the action on what is a big night for five of the six teams involved.
Crystal Palace vs Chelsea (18.00 – Sky Main Event, Sky Action)
The action begins with a London derby which is vital for the visitors as Chelsea travel to Selhurst Park looking for three points which will keep them in pole position in the race for the Champions League spots. They take on a Crystal Palace side who have the role of spoilers for the remainder of the campaign.
This is the sort of match Chelsea should win but they had a game like this last week against West Ham and they turned into a defensive shambles. You wouldn’t think Palace have the goals in them to trouble the Blues but again the same could have been said of the Hammers prior to that match. That means I’m in no rush to get involved in this game even though I expect to see an away win come full time.
Watford vs Norwich City (18.00 – Sky Premier League, Sky Arena, Sky One, Pick)
The other match to open up the night sees Watford having what would look like their best chance to pull away from the bottom three when they host a Norwich City side who have pretty much admitted themselves that they are as good as gone already.
Watford have to win this game you would think but based on what we’ve seen from them in recent times, there are no guarantees that they will. It might be that they run into Norwich at the worst time now because if they have accepted their fate, as they appear to have done, they could play with some freedom and show the sort of form that got them promoted in the first place and which has already beaten Man City this season. However it plays out, it isn’t one which interests me betting wise.

Arsenal vs Leicester City (20.15 – Sky Main Event and Sky Premier League)
The pick of the matches on Tuesday night is the last one to kick off as Arsenal host Leicester City in a match which is going to have a significant impact in the race for the European spots, whether it is the Champions League or the Europa League.
Leicester are beginning to look like sitting ducks in third spot and if Arsenal win this they will be within six points of them and then the race would truly be on. Defeat for the Gunners would probably end their chances of reaching the top four though so there is a lot at stake for both sides in this one. That could lead to a cagey game but I don’t think Arsenal are set up to keep things tight. To be fair to Arsenal they have kept three successive clean sheets and looked a lot tighter at the back, but they are up against some genuine firepower here.
Both these teams are full of firepower up front and given that it is a game where a draw isn’t really a great result for either, I have to think we’re going to see some goals here. Both teams have good options up front and look better in attack than they do in defence. Jamie Vardy is back among the goals and that could be huge for Leicester. That is enough to sway me into a bet on over 2.5 goals.
