2019-20 Sky Bet Championship – Friday 27th September Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Championship weekend begins on Friday night with a couple of matches as another set of fixtures in the second tier gets up and running. It looks like a night where tension and pressure could come to the fore too to add a bit of extra excitement for neutrals watching on.

One of the two matches are live on TV for those of us who are in the UK and I’m sure there will be plenty of updates in the coverage of the other game. Even though it is the later match to start, we’ll kick off our preview with the TV game.

Stoke City vs Nottingham Forest (20.00)

If reports are to be believed this is a big night for Stoke City boss Nathan Jones as if his side do not beat Nottingham Forest in front of the Sky Sports cameras it could well be sayonara for him at the Bet365 Stadium less than a year after he took up the hot seat.

His Potters side are still looking for their first league win of the campaign and were shot out of the Carabao Cup by League Two outfit Crawley Town in midweek. It gets no easier here either. They face a Nottingham Forest side who are unbeaten in the Championship since the opening day and they wouldn’t have lost that one if their keeper hadn’t had a mare. Forest have already drawn at Leeds and won at Fulham and Swansea this season. They are all infinitely better than this Stoke side at present so the bet has to be on the visitors to win this especially with a 0.25 start on the Asian lines.

Fulham vs Wigan (19.45)

The match away from the cameras sees Fulham looking to get their campaign back on track when they host Wigan Athletic in a contest you would think the home side really need to win if they are serious about promotion.

The away record of Wigan since they returned to this level is well documented as pretty ordinary but Fulham aren’t pulling up a huge number of trees either. I’ve got to say I expect Fulham to win this match and I expect them to win it well but I’ll let them do so at the prices as I can’t be getting involved at twos on when a team hasn’t won any of their last four matches and who haven’t necessarily played lights out opposition in that time either.
