Big Matches

The match on the main channel is the top of the table clash as the leaders West Bromwich Albion take their unbeaten record to Elland Road to take on a Leeds United side who will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Charlton Athletic at the weekend. Nottingham Forest took top spot in the Championship on Friday night and they could go back there if they can find a win at Ewood Park when they take on Blackburn Rovers.

Best of the Rest

At the other end of the table the two sides without a win so far go at it at the Bet365 Stadium where Stoke City host Huddersfield Town in a huge clash for both teams. Preston North End are enjoying a good run of results at the minute and they’ll be looking for another when they make the trip to the Riverside to take on Middlesbrough. Two entertaining sides meet at the Madejski Stadium when Reading host Fulham with the other two games seeing Hull City facing Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan Athletic hosting Birmingham City.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the net. I was tempted by Nottingham Forest but there isn’t quite enough juice in the price to lure me in. There is in Wigan Athletic though where they are very tough to beat at home, with only Leeds United winning at the DW Stadium this season. Wigan were down to 10 men after 20 minutes of that match as well so we probably shouldn’t be too judgemental on that one. Birmingham put in a better performance at Derby on Saturday but they still lost and I’m not all that convinced about the credentials of the Rams this season. With all the rain that has been around that part of the world the pitch at Wigan is going to be heavy so a side who want to play a continental style such as Birmingham aren’t going to be helped by that. Wigan can mix it up and I’ll take them to win this with plenty of draw cover.

The other bet I like is for both teams to score in the match between Stoke City and Huddersfield Town. Huddersfield have scored in every away match this season and have looked more and more threatening under Danny Cowley as evidenced when they scored twice at West Brom. With the individual errors and defensive mistakes Stoke are making it shouldn’t be hard for them to score at the Bet365 Stadium. Nathan Jones has once again highlighted the stats to suggest his side are unlucky and while they don’t count for a lot in terms of overall results it does give me confidence that they’ll have plenty of chances to find the back of the net in this match. Both teams will see this as a game they can win and I wouldn’t trust either to keep a clean sheet. The even money on both teams to score looks a good bet to me.
