Morning Session

Stephen Maguire will get the main table treatment in the morning session when he goes up against a Zhang Yong who will surely be motivated to make it into his home event. The other streamed table is likely to see Luca Brecel looking to continue his recent upturn in form when he plays host to the Hong Kong number two Andy Lee.

The outside tables are almost full in the morning session with Stuart Carrington going up against Lukas Kleckers on one of them, Anthony McGill meeting Simon Lichtenberg on another and Fergal O’Brien facing Sam Baird on a third. The other two matches taking place first up see Hossein Vafaei battling Hammad Miah and Robert Milkins going up against Eden Sharav.

Afternoon Session

John Higgins will be the main attraction in the afternoon session. The former world champion faces a fellow Scot in the form of Chris Totten on one of the streamed tables while on the other table in front of the cameras Jack Lisowski will take on Alfie Burden in a match where there is not expected to be a lot of safety being played.

On the outside tables Liam Highfield will go up against the success story from the Welsh Open in Joe O’Connor while Robbie Williams will face Tian Pengfei. Zhou Yuelong’s task to make it into his home event is to beat Lee Walker while two veterans do battle when Graeme Dott takes on Gerard Greene for a place on the plane to Beijing.

Evening Session

Welsh Open champion Neil Robertson is on one of the main tables in this evening session. He looks to qualify for China when he takes on Hamza Akbar while on the other streamed offering The Masters and World Grand Prix winner Judd Trump goes up against Jak Jones for his own place in Beijing.

The other matches take place on the outside tables and they see Chris Wakelin facing Peter Lines, Peter Ebdon goes up against Sanderson Lam and two Chinese players battle it out when Yan Bingtao meets Fan Zhengyi. The other two matches in the evening see Welsh Open finalist Stuart Bingham playing Chen Zifan and Michael White takes on Thor Chuan Leong.

Betting

There are a lot of one sided looking matches on the card on Tuesday and I’m going to take the outsider in one of them and the favourite in another of them. The outsider I like is Chris Totten. He is getting 4.5 frames from John Higgins and while I would expect Higgins to win in the end, he hasn’t shown anything to suggest he is going to beat someone 6-0 or 6-1 at the minute. If this match was in a two table high profile venue I might think differently, but Higgins hasn’t hidden his motivation problems in recent times and it is hard to see him getting up for this one. I’m fairly certain Higgins will win but Totten has it in him to bank a couple of frames before he exits.

Hamza Akbar has only won matches in one tournament since the opening event of the season so I don’t see him giving Neil Robertson too much trouble in their qualifying match. Robertson has given himself the extra day to get over his win in the Welsh Open but the one thing we saw in that tournament was how heavily he is scoring. That is something that Akbar doesn’t do. He only has five breaks of 70 or more all season and if you don’t score against Robertson you don’t win frames. I don’t think the man from Pakistan will win more than one frame here, if he even gets that many.
