2019 Specsavers County Championship – Sunday 2nd June Matches Betting Preview

Another round of matches in the Specsavers County Championship take place alongside the World Cup this week and they begin on Sunday when a couple of interesting matches in the second division get up and running.

There is a right old race for the title in the first division shaping up and that will resume on Monday but for now it is all about the second tier with the four sides in action from Sunday all eyeing up one of the three promotion places available.

Middlesex vs Sussex

The big game of the two beginning on Sunday is the one from Lord’s where Middlesex take on Sussex in a battle of two of the supposed better sides in the division who have had slow starts to their campaigns but will be looking to kick themselves into life.

Middlesex picked up a win against Worcestershire last week which they hope will click them into gear and with the likes of Dawid Malan and Tim Murtagh back and in good form they will be confident of a second success here. Sussex haven’t always been able to put 20 wickets together and while they did last week they let Glamorgan get away from them in doing it.

Although it has been improving recently, I’ve not been convinced by this Sussex batting and too often their lower order is having to bail them out. I’m not so sure they’ll be able to do that here so I’ll take this strong Middlesex attack to get the better of them and give the home side a second straight win.

Northamptonshire vs Glamorgan

The other match on the card on Sunday sees Northamptonshire and Glamorgan doing battle looking for another win on their campaign. Both these sides were expected to struggle badly this term but they are holding their own at the present time.

I would look to back Glamorgan at the prices here but the pitches at Wantage Road this season have been complete and utter roads so it is hard to see where there is going to be a winner in this one, especially with showers scheduled for a couple of the days of the match. This one is a pretty easy one to avoid with that in mind.
