2020-21 Premier League – Monday 12th April Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend concludes with another two matches in the Monday Night Football on an evening when the bottom end of the table is once again under the microscope rather than the very top end.

Once again both matches will be shown live on the TV and with the four sides on show all wanting the points for different reasons we should be treated to a couple of more entertaining matches than they might look like on paper.

Where to watch

The two matches will both be shown live on the Monday Night Football programme on the Sky Sports Main Event and the Sky Sports Premier League channels. The programme begins at 5.30pm with the matches kicking off at 6pm and 8.15pm.

West Brom vs Southampton (18.00)

The first match of the evening sees West Bromwich Albion taking on Southampton in a match which is much bigger for the home side than the visitors given that the Baggies have already seen Newcastle extend the gap between themselves and safety this weekend.

West Brom now go into the match 11 points adrift of safety now and with just seven games remaining after this one anything but a win in this match will surely leave them with too much to do to beat the drop. Mathematically Southampton are not yet safe but they are on 36 points and it would be a minor miracle if 17 teams end up with more than that total come the end of the campaign so they can play with a bit of freedom here. I’d probably consider a wager on Southampton here but there has to be a good chance that their attention is on their FA Cup semi-final on Sunday which is a major concern. West Brom walloped Chelsea last week but their home form leaves plenty to be desired so this is a clear no bet match.

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Everton (20.15)

The second match of the night looks the better of the two on paper as two technically good sides go at it at the Amex Sradium as Brighton and Hove Albion host an Everton side who might be glad to be away from Goodison Park.

Brighton begin the night six points above the relegation zone but with two matches in hand of Fulham so a win for them will all but secure another campaign of top flight football. Everton are sat in eighth place in the table but are beginning to get dragged away from the race for the top four. They are eight points off that spot now but they do have two games in hand, one of which is this one, so they will also be eager to win this match and close that gap.

Everton have a brilliant away record and I think if there is a winner in this match it will be them. Only the top three in the table have picked up more points on their travels this term than the Toffees. On the flip side of that Brighton just don’t win many home games. They’ve only won four in the last 2.5 seasons and only the bottom three in the table have picked up fewer points on home soil than the Seagulls. Both these sides are technically good which should make for a pleasant match to watch but the stronger clinical edge to Everton make me think they are the ones to be with.
