The Premier League weekend concludes on Monday with two matches where the focus at both ends of the table will be in the spotlight on what is a big evening of football for the four sides who take to the pitch over the course of the night.
The competition continues to be shown live on TV while crowds are not allowed into the stadiums so we have the opportunity of watching both games here. With plenty at stake it should be well worth putting our feet up and enjoying some top flight football.
West Ham United vs Sheffield United (18.00 – BT Sport 1)
The opening match of the night comes from the London Stadium where West Ham United host bottom of the pile Sheffield United in a clash where the points are worth a lot to both teams. West Ham will move into the top four for a few hours with a win while Sheffield United will leave the bottom of the table for the first time in ages if they come out on top.
West Ham are enjoying an excellent season but like a lot of teams in this league at present, their home form isn’t completely convincing when you strip it down. They have won three of their last seven on home soil, and while defeats to Liverpool and Man Utd can be allowed, the failure to beat Brighton and Crystal Palace is a concern. Also of a concern are that the three wins, against Burnley, West Brom and Aston Villa have all been by a single goal and not very convincing.
Not very convincing is how you would label the majority of the season for Sheffield United having only avoided defeat in five of their 23 matches, but three of those have come in their last six outings and have three cup wins surrounding them so this is a side who are beginning to find their range once again. West Ham won the reverse fixture between these two 1-0 with Sebastian Haller scoring but there was nothing convincing about that either. Importantly here the Hammers are missing a few defenders which could well keep Sheffield United interested. You sense the Blades are starting to gather some belief and I think they can extenuate that by avoiding defeat here.

Chelsea vs Newcastle United (20.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The second match of the night is a big one in the race for the Champions League places and the tusle to avoid the drop as Chelsea host Newcastle United in a match both teams will be eager to win at Stamford Bridge.
A win for Chelsea will see them enter the top four which will be a fine motivation for them to deliver the goods here while Newcastle will be eager for a victory that will move them up a couple of places in the table and restore the 10 point gap between them and the drop, which would be beneficial because Fulham look like they are finding the recipe for results and could easily put a run together over the next couple of weeks.
The big problem for Steve Bruce here is that he will be without Callum Wilson which comes just at a time when his side were beginning to look competent offensively. You wonder just how much ambition there will be from his side without their centre-forward. I suspect the answer is not much, and even if there is this will be the sixth game of the Thomas Tuchel tenure at the Bridge and the only goal they have conceded in that time has been an own goal so Newcastle scoring is far from guaranteed. I expect Chelsea to have too much here and win without conceding.
