The latest weekend in the Premier League comes to a close on Monday when the last two fixtures from the schedule take place on an extended night of action to pass another evening for those of us who are in lockdown.
We’ve seen all the big hitters this weekend already so it is the chance for four teams who don’t get the spotlight they crave as often as they would like to keep us entertained over the course of the few hours of action.
Where to watch
Both matches will be shown live on the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League channels. The build up to the action begins at 5pm and the programme goes right through until the end of the second one.
Burnley vs Crystal Palace (17.30)
The opening match of the night comes from Turf Moor where Crystal Palace will be hoping it is their happy place when they are the visitors to take on a Burnley side who are still looking for their first win of the campaign.
It is hard to foresee anything other than a tight match here. Burnley really need the win but they are never going to be expansive at the present time whereas although Crystal Palace are probably better suited to being on the road and employing their counterattacking capabilities but they are not likely to open up and leave themselves exposed either. It wouldn’t be a surprise if a single goal is enough to win this game but I’m not really a fan of betting on these sorts of matches when the odds reflect the chances of goals being at a premium.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Southampton (20.00)
The second part of the Monday night double header comes from Molineux where Wolverhampton Wanderers will go in search of a win which would move them up into the top half of the table when they host a Southampton team who were absolutely flying prior to the international break.
Wolves haven’t been completely convincing this season and went into the break off the back of a loss to Leicester City, which in itself isn’t too bad a result but not scoring means they only have six goals in seven matches since the opening week of the campaign. Southampton needed a couple of matches to get up to speed this season but they have now won five and drawn one of their last six matches and will move up to third in the table with a win here.
I’m a little surprised that Wolves are such emphatic favourites here. I have had my concerns over their attacking play since Diogo Jota left and it is clear they are not as fluent. Southampton like to take the game to their opponents which they will have the chance of doing here and while it isn’t ideal that Danny Ings is missing they do still have goals in them. I like Southampton a lot on their travels and think they can get some kind of a positive result here.
