2020-21 Premier League – Saturday 12th December Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend continues on Saturday where we are getting used to four matches taking place one after the other. That is no different this week on what should be a belting day of action in the top division.

The other thing we are getting used to is all the matches being available to subscribers of the relevant channels and that is no different on Saturday so there is no reason not to sit back with the feet up and watch all the action unfold!

Preview

Given what is to come there is a bit of a low key feeling about the early stages of the day but it all gets underway at Molineux where Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to bounce back from their mauling at Anfield when they host an Aston Villa team who have lost four of their last five but who have had almost two weeks off to readdress what is happening and get a few niggles sorted. The second match comes from St James’ Park where Covid ravaged Newcastle United host struggling West Bromwich Albion.

The action really lifts a notch for the final two matches of the day. The first of those sees Manchester pride on the line when Manchester United take on Manchester City in the biggest match of the day. Both these teams have started their season slowly so neither can afford to lose this one. We then conclude with the early pacesetters Everton who will look to get their campaign back on track having fallen off the pace when they entertain third placed Chelsea who head to Goodison Park in excellent form.

Betting

I’ll take on the last two matches over the course of the day for my Saturday betting action. Manchester City are shortening all the time to beat Manchester United and while I understand why that is the case, I think the better bet could be to take the perfectly big price for Pep’s men to be in front at half time rather than rely on them keeping out what has been a resurgent second half United team so far this term. Even in matches they lose they seem to come good in the second period, as evidenced in Germany in midweek. What they don’t seem to be doing is playing the first half particularly well so by taking City to win at half time we won’t be chewing our fingernails if United are within one in the second half and laying siege to a City defence that can never be trusted. My main bet will be on a fast starting City to lead at half time but I’ll risk a point on the City HT United FT just in case they turn it.

Moving into the final match and there will be fans inside Goodison Park for the first time in nine months and that can energise Everton into a performance which they will need against a Chelsea team who are flying. This should be a good watch actually because there is no doubt both teams are much better in attacking areas than in defensive ones and both are designed to get the ball forward and score goals. With that in mind, I suspect we’ll see a few goals in this one which would be in keeping with the fixtures between the two last term where there were four goals in each. The goal line here is over 2.75 goals where I would be surprised if we don’t pick up at least a half win but there is no reason this one can’t explode into life and get us the full win.
