2020-21 Premier League – Sunday 21st March Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The reduced Premier League weekend concludes on Sunday as we head into the international break with a couple of matches which could have huge implications over the destination of the European spots come the end of the season.

These matches have weird Sunday kick off times due to mixing and matching with the FA Cup quarter finals that also take place over the course of the day. They are both on TV though so we don’t need to miss any of the action.

West Ham United vs Arsenal (15.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The opening match of the two on Sunday is a London derby between two sides looking to make it into Europe next season through their final position in the table. West Ham United still have their sights set on the Champions League but need a win here to assist with that quest. Arsenal probably need to win the Europa League to get in but a strong end to the campaign could still guarantee European football next term.

I’m expecting a bit of an open game here because both sides will appreciate the opportunity that is in front of them with others in the mix not in action this weekend. They both know a win is what they need. Draws aren’t really going to help the cause. Only Manchester City have won more points at home this term than West Ham but Arsenal are beginning to find their groove with their only defeat in their last five league matches coming against Manchester City. They have progressed in the Europa League in that time too.

Given what is on this match and the need for both to win it I think we’ll see both teams show plenty of attacking intent. West Ham were so negative it is untrue against Manchester United last week but the return to home surroundings and having Jesse Lingard back should ensure that doesn’t happen again. Arsenal are gaining in confidence the more Martin Odegaard features so I like both teams to score in this one.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur (19.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The second match of the day sees plenty of scrutiny and attention on Jose Mourinho as he takes his Tottenham Hotspur side to Villa Park to take on an Aston Villa side who have had a positive season but need to end it well to make sure it doesn’t get away from them.

One thing which would help Villa in that quest is if Jack Grealish could return. He is expected to be a game day decision but whether they feel it is worth the risk remains to be seen. Villa can play with a lot more freedom than their opponents here though. They will be under pressure to show a bit of character here after their disastrous exit in the Europa League in midweek. Anything but a win here and you would think the vultures would really come for Mourinho. To be fair to the ‘Special One’ he tends to get a reaction from his side when he is under fire but with the question marks over whether Grealish will play or not I’m happy to leave this alone, although Villa could certainly be value if their captain does return.
