There were meant to be three matches in the Premier League on Sunday but the Covid-19 issues with Fulham have reduced that to two on a day where we see three sides who still can’t be ruled out of the title picture in action.
As ever on a Sunday this season all the matches are live on TV so even though the day has been shortened there is no reason not to put our feet up and what should be a decent few hours of football all in all.
Where to watch
Both matches can be viewed on the Sky Sports Main Event and the Sky Sports Premier League channels. The build up to them both begins at 1.30pm with kick offs coming at 2.15pm and 4.30pm.
Newcastle United vs Leicester City (14.15)
The opening match of the afternoon sees Newcastle United looking to build on their fortunate draw against Liverpool when they host a Leicester City side who will be annoyed at dropping two points at Crystal Palace last time out.
Newcastle had their keeper Karl Darlow to thank for their point against Liverpool and it will be interesting to see if they come out a little bit more against weaker opposition in this match, albeit one which has to be respected for the excellent season they are having. Leicester dropped two points last time out but they rested a lot of key players so they should be much fresher for this contest, not least because they played on Monday afternoon whereas the Toon outfit had to wait until Wednesday evening for their contest. I think that could be significant especially with some of the Newcastle squad still recovering from Covid-19. I expect Leicester to win with a bit in hand here.

Chelsea vs Manchester City (16.30)
The match of the weekend was meant to be the second one on Sunday as Frank Lampard and his Chelsea side take on one of the clubs he represented as a player when they host Manchester City in a key game for both sides at Stamford Bridge.
Whenever the big six teams meet there is always an air of anticipation but whether this one will live up to the hype remains to be seen because Manchester City are suffering with Covid-19 issues which we already know has ruled Kyle Walker, Gabriel Jesus and Ederson out but Pep Guardiola hinted that more of his key men would be missing. You would think that would play right into Chelsea’s hands but they are flattering to deceive in a big way at the minute and are already under pressure to get a result here without more expectation landing on their shoulders. I might get involved when we know exactly who is in and out for City but until then this is a no bet game for me.
