Preview

The action begins with a couple of competitive matches. Aston Villa will look to showcase their credentials for European qualification once again when they make the trip up the M6 to take on a Burnley team who will be eager to continue their winning ways after beating Liverpool last week and then coming through in the FA Cup at the weekend. While that is going on all eyes will be on the capital where Thomas Tuchel will be overseeing Chelsea for the first time as the Blues begin yet another new era following the sacking of Frank Lampard. They host Wolverhampton Wanderers who need a complete performance after a period of flattering to deceive.

Later in the evening there is a huge clash at the Amex Stadium where the two teams either side of the relegation line meet as Brighton and Hove Albion host Fulham in a match between two teams who are very watchable. Two sides who have their eye on Europe next season meet at Goodison Park when Everton host Leicester City who will be without talisman Jamie Vardy for the match. The action concludes at Old Trafford where Manchester United will look to regain top spot when they entertain rock bottom Sheffield United whose need for the points is obvious.

Betting

There is a lot of Premier League action over the next few weeks and after six winners on the trot in the division there is no need to push the boat out for bets in what is a tricky looking card to find value or nice prices in. There is one bet that I like the look of though. It comes in the middle of the five matches to kick off as Brighton and Hove Albion host Fulham in what could very well be the most important match of the evening.

It is a match where I’m not sure Fulham are getting the credit they need. There has been a serious improvement both in their play and their results in recent times and as a result of that I’m surprised we can get a +0.5 line on the Asian handicaps. Fulham go into the game off the back of successive defeats in the Premier League but they looked in no trouble against Chelsea until a game changing red card and it took a wonderful Paul Pogba hit for Manchester United to beat them. The Cottagers are a lot harder to beat these days though. In terms of the fact that Brighton have only lost five of their last 15 Premier League games they carry the hard to beat tag but importantly they have only won two of those games and are still looking for a first home win of the season. There is absolutely no way the Seagulls should be this price to win the game. They have only won three games all season and both West Brom and Sheffield United left the Amex with a point. That’s the least I expect Fulham to come away with here.
