2020-21 Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 21st November Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Championship returned from the international break in pretty drab fashion on Friday night so hopefully the 11 matches that will be played out on Saturday offer much more in the way of entertainment and goal action.

As ever on a Saturday there is a televised match for us to enjoy and then the other fixtures take place which can be viewed on the club streaming services with updates in plenty of other places online and things.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)

AFC Bournemouth v Reading (12.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Football)

Barnsley v Nottingham Forest

Bristol City v Derby County

Luton Town v Blackburn Rovers

Middlesbrough v Norwich City

Millwall v Cardiff City

Preston North End v Sheffield Wednesday

Queens Park Rangers v Watford

Stoke City v Huddersfield Town

Big Matches

The televised action comes from the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon when two of the top four meet as AFC Bournemouth host the league leaders Reading in an attractive looking match. The other members of the top four are also in action on Saturday as Norwich City make the trip to take on Middlesbrough while Watford have the much shorter journey to take on QPR. The other two members of the top six have home matches as Bristol City welcome a Derby County side led by Wayne Rooney and Swansea City host Rotherham United.

Best of the Rest

At the bottom of the table Sheffield Wednesday and Wycombe Wanderers have already seen Coventry City drop points this weekend so both have the chance to overtake them when they travel to Preston North End and host Brentford respectively. Nottingham Forest and Barnsley will be looking to pull away from the bottom end of the table when they meet at Oakwell while elsewhere Luton Town welcome Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City boss Neil Harris takes on his former side when he takes his team to Millwall.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the day with the first one involving my own team Luton Town in their match with Blackburn Rovers where I’m expecting to see some goals at Kenilworth Road. Blackburn are free scoring as they have shown this season already and although Luton haven’t scored as many as they would like I expect that to change over the coming weeks with their attacking full-backs returning from injury and a set of classy midfielders having had a couple of weeks of training to fully fit in after a hectic period after the transfer window. Luton have been good this season but should go to a next level now. Blackburn score goals but they leak them too and that is a trend Luton might adopt in the coming weeks so over 2.5 goals looks good to me here.

The other bet I like is for Swansea City to see off Rotherham United at the Liberty Stadium. Rotherham have started the campaign more than acceptably to be fair to them but on the road their only win has been at Wycombe Wanderers which isn’t much of a form guide to be fair. Not many sides go to Wales and beat Swansea City. Indeed only Huddersfield Town have won there this term and Swansea look to have kicked on again after their play-off disappointment last season. Only Middlesbrough have conceded fewer goals than them this term so Swansea are hard to beat. Rotherham aren’t quite so and I think the Millers have their work cut out here. I’ll take the home win.
