There are two rescheduled matches in the Championship on Tuesday evening as four clubs look to catch up after FA Cup and Covid-19 issues took away some of their fixtures earlier in the season, on what could be a pivotal night at the bottom of the table.
Three of the four teams on show are deep in a relegation battle while the other side have only just pulled away from it so there could be plenty of nerves and tension around. Sadly neither game is live on TV so we are reduced to the other ways of keeping up with them.
Rotherham United vs Cardiff City (19.00)
Two form sides meet in one of the matches on Tuesday night when a Rotherham United side who have caught fire in recent times take on a Cardiff City team for whom a change in manager seems to have had the desired effect on their fortunes.
This looked like being another season of struggle for Rotherham United as they look to finally establish themselves at this level but three wins and a draw from their last five outings has seen them escape the bottom three and give them a chance to put a little bit of distance between them and the drop zone with a game in hand of third bottom Birmingham City to come. Cardiff made the change to bring Mick McCarthy in as manager and they are unbeaten in his tenure, picking up their first win under him at Bristol City on Saturday. You always thought there was too much quality in their ranks to be involved in trouble this term and now if they win this they will move into the top half and potentially be looking at the play-offs rather than over their shoulders.
Given that both teams look to be playing well I think this is a match to leave alone. Had the game been a couple of weeks ago then Cardiff would definitely have been worth taking on but they have found themselves again under McCarthy and are more than capable of getting a result here. This one is a no bet game for me despite Rotherham still being tempting at the prices.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Wycombe Wanderers (19.00)
Perhaps the bigger of the two matches on Tuesday evening is the one at Hillsborough where the bottom two in the table meet as Sheffield Wednesday play host to Wycombe Wanderers in a match neither side dare lose if they want to retain their Championship status at the end of the campaign.
In terms of the current standings this is probably a bigger match for Wycombe than it is Wednesday, but the hosts can latch onto the two sides immediately above them in the table with a win here and bring quite a few more sides into reach so this remains a big game for them even if they can still escape the drop should they not come away with the victory. Wycombe are already 12 points adrift of safety and a defeat here would make what is already an unlikely escape seem that much more difficult.
Usually in these kinds of matches you might think one side will park the bus and look to win on the break but I think Wycombe’s need is a lot more serious than that whereas Wednesday will get pelters if they look to sit back at home against the worst side in the league so I fancy this one will be a more open and expansive game where we see a lot of goal action. Wednesday have scored in seven of their last eight and although Wycombe haven’t scored in two, they had scored in seven of the eight prior to that so there are goals in these teams and their need may well bring them out here. I like over 2.25 goals.
