2020 BDO World Championship Darts – Day 6 Tips and Betting Preview

The sixth day of action at the BDO World Championship is another busy one inside the Indigo at the o2 as the second round of the men’s draw comes to a close and all four ladies quarter finals are played out over two sessions on Thursday.

We’ve already seen the likes of Scott Mitchell and Scott Waites head through to the men’s quarter final and on Thursday we’ll see if the favourite Jim Williams can join them. We’ll also see if Mikuru Suzuki can continue the defence of her world title.

Afternoon Session

It all kicks off with the first of the ladies quarter finals, which if you go by the odds is entitled to be the tightest of the four as Corrine Hammond looks to take a step towards returning to the final for the first time since 2017 when she goes up against Laura Turner, who saw off Deta Hedman in the first round. The afternoon finishes with the second of those quarter finals which sees the teenager Beau Greaves back on the big stage. He has a much tougher task ahead of her than she did in the first round in the shape of the extremely competent Aileen de Graaf.

In between there we have the one men’s match in the afternoon session but it should be a decent one as the tournament favourite Jim Williams is involved in it. He takes on the Scottish number one Ryan Hogarth in a match that the Welsh star will be expected to win, but he is just in a spell on TV where he is making heavier weather of things than he probably should be, which adds to the intrigue of it.

Evening Session

The evening session also begins with a women’s quarter final and it sees the former champion and number one seed Lisa Ashton taking on the beaten finalist of a year ago in Lorraine Winstanley. The men are back on the stage after that when Dennie Olde Kalter looks to make it into the quarter final when he goes up against the Belgian number one on this side of the darting divide in the form of Mario Vandenbogaerde who looked pretty decent in the first round.

The last of the ladies quarter finals acts as the penultimate match on a huge day of darts and on paper at least it should be the pick of them as the defending champion Mikuru Suzuki takes on the former winner Anastasia Dobromyslova in what should be a cracking contest. The last match of the day should be very good too as Martijn Kleermaker takes on the man who almost took out the nine darter in the previous round in Paul Hogan.

Betting

This is a good looking day of action but there is only one bet which catches my eye if I’m honest. We have to wait until the final match of the night for it as well as Martijn Kleermaker takes on Paul Hogan in what I fancy could be the pick of the matches on the sixth day of competition. Both men looked in good touch in the first round so I’m expecting a really good watch and a match with a lot of 180s.

Hogan has hit 11 180s in his two matches so far including five in the second game that he played. In fact both men hit five 180s in a one-sided 3-0 win in the first round so naturally you would think there will be more to come from them both in a match that looks set to go double that duration. These are two heavy scorers so I’m expecting plenty of 180s in this one. Given that they combined for 10 180s in the first round I expect them to clear 10.5 180s in a longer match here.
