The Modus Icons of Darts event continues throughout the day on Tuesday with five players once again pounding their board at their home to provide us with some entertainment to make another day in lockdown pass by quicker.
The event has been well received and has offered up some competitive action mixed in with some indifferent fayre in the seven days it has gone on for thus far, and we would be foolish to think we won’t get more of the same on Tuesday.
The Format
Each day from Monday to Saturday five men will battle it out in a round robin group with the overall champion being determined on Saturday May 2. Matches will see the players compete over the best of 9 legs with each of them at home in front of a webcam throwing at their own individual dartboards. Scores can be found on Dart Connect and the tournament will be streamed on the bookmaker live streaming consoles and for free on Dartslive.tv.

Monday Recap
It was the fresh blood into the tournament that had the best of the opening day of the week on Monday as Jason Askew and Arron Monk fought out a close finish which saw the former top the group on leg difference, after both had won three of their four matches over the course of the afternoon. Andy Jenkins picked up a couple of wins and a couple of losses and there were solitary wins for Paul Nicholson and Robert Collins.
It wasn’t a good start to the week for us betting wise with Nicholson never really offering up anything in terms of being competitive in the group, while Jenkins went down in a deciding leg to Arron Monk, who annoyingly had two ton plus checkouts in the five legs he won in that match. That leaves us with work to do over the remainder of the week.
Tuesday Line Up
Jason Askew’s reward for winning on Monday is to get the day off on Tuesday. He is replaced by Jarred Cole, a man probably unknown to many but who was within a leg of winning a PDC Tour card at Q-School in January. It has to be said the other three days, and indeed the four Challenge Tour events after that, did not go to plan for the youngster, so it will be interesting to see what he offers up here, if he manages anything.
The four men he will be taking on are a mixture of PDC fading forces and Challenge Tour combatants. Andy Jenkins will fancy his chances of a first group win while Paul Nicholson will be eyeing up likewise. Having missed out so narrowly on Monday, Arron Monk might feel like Tuesday is his day. Robert Collins will be out to deliver better than we saw in the first day of action this week.

Outright Betting
I’ve a feeling this could be an interesting day of darts given that the winner on Monday is out of the equation. In theory Arron Monk is the man to beat on Tuesday given how close he got to Askew on Monday, and the odds are reflective of that, but he was taking out ton plus checkouts from all over the place and I’m not sure that sort of thing can be repeated or relied upon regularly so I’m prepared to take him on.
The question then becomes who we take him on with. I’ve not seen a huge amount of Jarred Cole that suggests he is going to be in the mix while Rob Collins is going to have to make a significant improvement if he is to challenge for the group. Paul Nicholson has either been brilliant or useless so judging him isn’t easy which leaves Andy Jenkins. The Hampshire thrower was looking good on Monday when he won his opening two matches but couldn’t handle the youngsters, although as mentioned before he’s unlikely to run into a 161 and 122 finish against Monk again. Had Jenkins won that match he would have finished above Monk in the table so the 4/1 he wins on Tuesday appeals enough.
Match Betting
I’ll go with one in the match betting front on Tuesday and that comes in the form of Paul Nicholson who I think can overcome Rob Collins with a bit to spare. Nicholson beat Collins 5-2 on Monday with his lowest average of the day which kind of shows the potential he has of delivering an even bigger win than that. Collins started out with his best average on Monday but that was only 89.4 and he got progressively worse from there.
Nicholson wasn’t at his best on Monday but still produced three averages over 85 whereas Collins went from 89.4 in his opening match to put up averages of 81.5, 77.6 and 81.3 in his last three matches. You don’t win anything at this level with that sort of effort and while there is probably improvement to come in him there is in Nicholson too with him having posted nine averages of 90+ and one of 100+ in the 24 matches he has played thus far. If this comes down to doubling I expect Nicholson to have the edge and I expect him to win this no worse than 5-3.
Tips
Back A.Jenkins to win Group 2 for a 2/10 stake at 5.00 with Bet365
Back P.Nicholson (-1.5 legs) to beat R.Collins for a 3/10 stake at 2.25 with Sky Bet
